Series 7 STC Final Exam Q&A Scores Vs. Exam Results

June, 2018

Hi everyone, I joined this site to make this post, as this is what I was looking for and would have liked to see before the Series 7 exam. Hopefully it helps someone who is getting ready to take the exam.

I used STC study materials to study, and did so for a little less than 2 months at home. I did not read the book. I watched ALL of the on-demand lectures, and then did the progress exams immediately after. Once all chapters were done, I did the final exams sequentially. I passed today with a 81%. My firm had the option to either pay me minimum hourly wage to study with them, or pay me a $10K bonus once completing the Series 7 and 66, so that's why I chose to do it on my own time. I was ready in less than 2 months with studying 4-5 hours a day, but my background check took a while to clear while I was waiting to schedule my test (anticipate things like this with large firms). Anyway, here is the important part of the post that I would have liked to see before I took the exam:

STC Q&A Final Exam Results:
Exam 1: 63%
Exam 2: 64%
Exam 3: 64%
Exam 4: 68%
Exam 5: 62%
Exam 6: 70%
Exam 7: 60%
Exam 8: 65%
Exam 9: 66%
Exam 10: 68%
Exam 11: 66%
Exam 12: 65%

STC Closed Book Final Exam Results: (I only did the first 2)
Exam 1: 85%
Exam 2: 78%

Greenlight Exam: (I only did the first 1)
Greenlight Exam 1: 66%

As I said, I passed the real exam with an 81%. I do have an MBA, so I think I knew a few of the answers from my own studies rather than the STC materials, but I would say there were 5 questions at most that I didn't see in the STC materials. If you are worried or nervous about your exam based on the STC test scores, then hopefully this post will give you a little bit of confidence! I am taking the Series 66 in a few weeks and will post here when I take it to show the results.

My exam is 2 days from today and I got a 65 on greenlight exam. I put alot of time studying and am disappointed with the result. Having said that, your post gave me comfort. I have only to study and don't know which rout to take.

Hi MWJ_MBA Thank you for taking time and posting your experience. I am in the same boat and am trying to follow your study pattern using STC: So far I have studied every STC final exam question from the 12 final exams and all on-demand lectures. When you say progress exams are you referring to 8 X 2 (A and B) exams + 2 Greenlight exams?

Appreciate your consideration..

Hi,

After each on demand lecture series that corresponds with the progress exam, I would take the progress A/B exams for that section. When I was done with all of them, I began on the open book Q&A Final Exams, which I did sequentially. I did not look in the book or at anything while I took them. After I was done with those, I took the first two closed book final exams, and finally the Greenlight exam. Please let me know if this doesn't clear it up and I can explain further...

I also failed all 12 exams, then passed with a score in the low 80s. I thought this test was actually relatively hard, at least insofar as there is a ton of material on it and it requires a good amount of memorization.

I am not sure why everybody online likes to spout off on how easy the test is, I always scored high on standardized tests and have a top MBA and I thought for sure I was failing while taking the exam. Its mostly a combination of memorization, outdated finance concepts and poorly worded questions.

One thing I would say is to never touch the book and just hammer the practice tests for the 7 as well as any other STC test.

Unfortunately I did not pass the exam. Got 66 which is scary because my employer might not give me a second chance. With me my numbers are low across the board except retirement accounts which I'm familiar with. I appreciate everyone's advice on how to study to improve the scores. I don't think I can read the book all over again.

do not give up! I understand it is a physiologically devastating feeling. I failed too, and was given the opportunity to retake the exam by my manager. I would suggest you use KnopmanMarks prep material and do over 1,500 questions and review what you feel you are not understanding or get a tutor.

I personally used STC and failed it with a 64% the first time, then I bought PassPerfect and KnopmanMarks and pounded out questions and passed with a 78% after 30 days. It is a daunting task, but you will get there too!!

I did all on demand videos and by topic questions, all, then closed book exams which shows my numbers are improving. My second attempt is in 10 days and I'm afraid to use a different study material at this point.
