sophomore aiming for MBB in junior fall - go for 3.7 gpa or risk academics by taking on spring internship?

Hi, I am a sophomore at a target studying econ with a 3.6 GPA. Prepping for consulting recruitment this upcoming fall. I know MBB wants 3.7 and I may not get it this semester if I go overboard on other activities.

Particularly I am considering a spring internship offer in growth strategy @ a tech startup or a potential consulting internship @ a small consulting firm

My question is, will a semester internship help my chances for MBB more over a 3.7 GPA? Or should I focus on academics this semester?

extra point: I’m not in any consulting clubs but have won case competitions, I don’t think case competitions can equate to a consulting club experience though unfortunately

What internships do you have so far and coming up this summer?
If the answer is nothing particularly good, then I would definitely suggest getting aggressive about finding something now

Are you sure this isn't a false dilemma? Maybe instead you could (a) study more, (b) take fewer credit hours and defer them to later when your GPA doesn't matter as much), (c) avoid hard classes / professors, or (d) [if allowed for equivalent credits at your school] take an online gen ed at a community college instead of one of your current classes at current school
