Spending $2,500/month in Hells Kitchen as an Analyst
How stupid am I?
I just signed a lease for a 2 bedroom $2,500 apartment in Hell's Kitchen as an incoming A1. I'm scared. Wtf do I do?
I make base $85,000
Help?

How many square feet? Are you willing to find a roommate? That would substantially lower your monthly rent.
Not sure if you're in a luxury building or what amenities are included, but I signed a ~2,400/mo 2 year least in a nice luxury building that I'm happy with. ~720 sq ft, 1 br with dope views. Making 90k base.
It's definitely at the topline of my budget, but the QOL and pleasure of being in a close location to work and having nice amenities is worth it (gym and pool in building). So i save on commute and gym costs.
Find a roommate if you really want to bring the cost down. But living alone can be nice as well.
What's your expected total comp? Just curious as FO roles don't really follow the % of comp rule well since bonuses can be 50-100+% of base comp.
Thanks
140-150. Although I would say plenty of users on this forum still follow the ~30% comp rule, live off base and bank the bonus is my philosophy.
Where can you get such a 1BR for 2.4K?
An apartment building that’s giving you ~3.5 concession on a 24 month lease. Originally like 2.8 or 2.9k
Save in all other places you can. Instead of cabbing or ubering somewhere, maybe take the train, make food at home instead of ordering delivery, cancel subscriptions you are on the fence about but need to accept that you don't or barely use. Take full advantage of work meals and work sponsored transit home. Does the building have a gym?If so, good you saved there, but if not, maybe don't go for the nox lol. Just try to budget in fun stuff when possible. $2,500 is a lot but not un-doable. Lot of people spend their whole base and save their bonus. It could be a tad bit tight but you should be fine.
Also, is this $2,500 with a roommate aka $5,000 total? If not, why did you get a 2br to begin with? Was that really necessary?
Oh no I made the voluntary decision to sign a lease that I wasn't coerced into and it's eating up half of my net monthly salary, what do I do?
You work in finance! Get off your a$$, do some math, and make a f**king budget.
You're sooooooooooooo fucked . Apartment hunting at the last second.

What?
You should be fine. Do you really like the place?
How did you even get the lease? Usually you need to prove base salary is at least 40X of monthly rent.
Probably a guarantor. Still not sure why he got the lease without thinking about how much of his paycheck is going to rent
Is $2500/mo really that much on 85K?
Taxes
50% of net salary
rent your second bedroom out to an only fans chick for a % of her book...
Probably the smartest option for OP

My question is how did you manage to find a 2br for only 2.5k ?? All the decent 1br ive seen go for at least 3k
yea that's what i was thinking. probably a crappy apartment walkup in hell kitchen. no hate, i used to live there for a bit
Yeah I’m curious about this too - seems like a good deal. OP is gone though.
Well at least you can always suck dick for money
You sound very experienced in this manner.
It is pride month so no shame
Wait you guys are getting paid?
It's a 2 bedroom, Airbnb it. Better yet go on to roommate tinder and find a 2nd.
How can you get a 2BR in Hell’s Kitchen for 2500?
Currently in Hell's Kitchen. 2,500 for a 2-bedroom in a shitty walk-up sounds realistic.
you couldve spent that 2.5k on a nice studio in a luxury building in HK. whatchu need 2br for lol
This makes me feel so much better about my $1,800/month lease LOL
$1800 in Manhattan for a studio is dirt cheap - you’re lucky.
