Switching from Growth Equity > Buyout Private Equity
Does anyone have experience or know of anyone who has made the switch from a growth equity shop (think TA Associates / Summit) to a buyout shop? Even if it's doing 2 years pre-MBA associate at a growth equity fund > business school > buyout private equity. I know the skill set in growth equity tends to be less technical (particularly at sourcing model shops), but wasn't sure if this switch could easily be done.

People from TA and Summit tend to get very good PE jobs after MBA from what I have seen - both buyout and growth. This could be because those candidates are so polished/great at selling after 2 years in a sourcing firm, but they tend to punch above their weight

Just out of curiosity, is transition from growth PE to LBO/Buyout PE (the Mega funds) possible? I would really appreciate some insight!
wicked tough. different skillset
If you're going to pull it off anywhere, maybe Bain Cap? Or another firm that works closer with the portfolio?
