Things to do in the Bay Area
This might be the wrong forum to ask on, because everyone here seems to think that SF is absolute hell, but I'll have quite a bit of free time in San Francisco next month and I'm wondering what are some cool things to do there/attractions to visit. I don't really want to visit dumb touristy places like Fisherman's Wharf; I would definitely prefer off the beaten path and less mainstream attractions.
So far I'm thinking about getting Dim Sum in Chinatown and visiting SF MOMA. What else would you fellow monkeys recommend?

Oakland is gay
Stuff has opened up int eh East Area recently by the way....
DISRUPT the OVERPRICED SEX DUNGEONS and check out Sightglass, Ritual, or The Mill if you like coffee.
Make the trip up to Napa for a weekend if you can. Amazing time
The Exploratorium is cool
Hang Ah Dim Sum Tea House in Chinatown is where you want to go.
What else do you normally like to do? You can go to Dolores or Golden Gate park. Catch a Giant's game. There are a ton of cool bars you can check out as well.
You should join the cultural enrichment of the homeless locals and shoot up heroin, seeing as you will be stepping on used needles on the side walk.
I also hear that smelling your own farts and tweeting about Donald Drumphfff is a SF cultural delicacy.
Head up to Sausalito or over to Tiburon for lunch. Also highly recommend Marin Joe's just up the highway.
Baonecci Ristorante in little Italy is pretty good & golden gate park is alrite
I've lied here for a few years and it depends on what you are into... I'd be throwing away the rest of my morning if I typed everything you can do. What are you into?
Outdoors: Mt Tam, Muir Woods (redwoods), Monterey (Whale watching aquarium), Big Sur., Alcatraz, Yosemite, Taho, Ocean Beach, Golden Gate Park.
Food: China Town, Japan Town, Mission District (Mexican), Brunch in North Beach/Marina (also Italian)?
Art: Moma, Ice Cream Museum (Haven't been), ... can't really comment here
I can give better advice depending on your budget and tastes but there is toooo much to do here it's nuts.
Please ignore spelling errors, ran through that really quick... Tahoe*
I second Mt. Tam...
What kind of law do you practice?
Second on Muir Woods. Check out Muir Beach too.
Rent a fun car (recommend the app Turo) and take 101 over the Golden Gate, hit Sausalito and then take Highway 1 north and enjoy the views heading up the coast to Bodega Bay. Cut back inland on the way back and tour around Sonoma before hopping on 101 south. SF is a fun city, but my favorite parts are outside downtown.
Second this. Stop in Tomales Bay along the way and grab some BBQ oysters from the Marshall Store.
Hookers
Hahaha +SB
Rent a Dodge Charger and perform in a Sideshow on 880 near Coliseum and crank E40 at the same time
What about the bars/club scene? All I've seen is Gay nightlife, but is there any insight into good nightlife for straight people lmao? Trying to make the most of my summer there.
Don't be afraid to putt from the rough. A semester in Greek won't ruin a major in Latin.
In SF most everywhere is very gay friendly so you'll encounter plenty of gay people when you go out at night. There are of course places that are more dedicated to being exclusively LBGT (or some subset of that). Most places will merely be gay friendly but if you accidentally walk into a places that is clearly exclusively or mostly gay you can just leave. Unless you're deeply uncomfortable with seeing a few dudes dance/make out with each other, nightlife in SF is not much different from anywhere else in the country.
No, totally fine with seeing gay people and if homeboy gettin it on with other homeboy, im just gonna cheer em on. just want to go to a bar/club that isn't oriented specifically for the LGBTQ community, and is fun for everyone but Idk any of the good bars I guess.
Just stay out of the Castro and you'll be fine. That's where the gay bars are... there aren't really any outside of there.
Sounds good my guy, thanks
Chestnut Street in the Marina if you want to hang out with college graduates and meet 23 year old girls. Polk Street is generally a good street to go bar hopping.
Word, thanks. Im there for an internship so definitely looking for the younger crowd.
Golden Gate Bridge
Check out the Tenderloin at night - guaranteed that you would never have had an experience like that. JK - Never ever go to the fucking Tenderloin.
Go to Japan Town and visit the bookstore and grocery store. The grocery store sushi is awesome and super cheap.
Go to Pier 39 to see the seals and do the maze there - it's hilarious fun.
Check out Dogpatch and dine at Piccino then check for events at Dogpatch WineWorks. Overall amazing neighborhood food scene.
Visit San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
