not decentralised right? but could have some utility
Their digital currency dream? They've simply decided another avenue of monetization is payments. From the looks of it, frankly, it seems unnecessary to go through and create this whole backed setup. I put 100 in, it converts to a 'stable' coin.. ostensibly the same value as I put in, then I transfer it over to someone else. You are basically paypal at this point - or at least competing with them.
I get why they want to do it, and frankly I think it's a good idea from their perspective - but by no means does this strike me as a 'crypto currency' or anything of the sort. The EM uses strike me as most interesting, alongside people who many not have access to stable banking systems.
What is interesting is that things like this, or Tether, are beginning to takeover or even dwarf money market funds. Now that can become an interesting wrinkle for sure.
Fuck anything from Zuck. Dude is an awful human being whose monopoly, dastardly data practices and cruel experimentation on users needs to be reined in
dastardly. love that
A currency controlled by Mark Zuckerberg. No fucking thank you.
If your a vocal conservative expect your Zuck Buck balance to randomly hit 0 one day without warning.
Doesn't really matter if my balance never exists in the first place. Bitcoin's the only crypto for me. This dip is nice and phat.
I hope lobbyists block the shit out of this. Look at how FB handles poltics. No shot that they can responsibly manage a currency.
This would work with Apple, Google, or even Amazon, but not Facebook. This is King Zucc saying to all of his subjects, I’m the king, bow down and use my currency. And people don’t want to do that. 96% of iOS trackers opted out of letting Facebook track their advertising data, which is a good example of just how little people trust Facebook.
There’s plenty of stablecoins out there, like USDC, which Visa has explored using, that would have the same utility of Diem. We don’t need or want Zucc’s centralized shitcoin.
From my view, Mark Zuckerberg has committed many grave errors and Diem is haram.
From the Quran, "Allah will deprive usury of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity: for He loves not creatures ungrateful and sinner."
I pray to Allah that he will cast terror into the hearts of those at Facebook, strike Mark Zuckerberg over the neck, and smite him over all his fingers and toes.
