Tips on how to ace analyst lateral interviews with Goldman Sachs TMT in NY

Hello,

I will be having 2 interviews (30 minutes each with 2 VPs) with GS TMT in NY although the position says (ECM TMT), and I am not fully aware whether GS provides services such as M&A, IPO, etc. under the TMT group. If you have an answer, please help me out.

For the interview preparation, since I have not worked a software company, should I be worried that I will be asked question about SaaS operating model? I got a brief lecture about SaaS operating modeling, but beyond that, I have no clue.

In 30 minutes, I think they can ask a lot of questions, either fit or technical, if anyone has gone through the lateral process with GS TMT group, could you please share some tips how to prepare myself besides reviewing M&A Model, LBO and DCF?

Thank you!

I am in healthcare but have always had an interest in TMT. I took the position when I could so I could pivot later. When you say a lot depending on my current role, how does that transpire into what the interviewers are going to quiz me? Did you mean that if I am still fresh, they won't ask a lot of tough questions and if I have been working for more than a year, they will drill down deep with harder technical questions?

Yeah I did but didn’t get an offer. Luckily got another BB. Interview was alright technical but they really want you to show interest towards M&A TMT deals. Also not sure why you wanna move so early. Usually 6months to a 1 year is a good spot to make a lateral move.

Best of luck dude. Show enough interest about tech m&a, have a few recent m&a deals gs worked on. Brush up on basic technicals.
