URGENT! MSF, WUStL vs Vandy vs Rochester (Simon) vs Purdue

Hi,

I'm an international student (although I got my bachelor's in the US) who got admitted to the MSF programs at WashU (no info on financial assistance yet), Vanderbilt (no financial aid), Rochester (50% tuition scholarship) and Purdue (10k scholarship). I'm looking to break into IB in NY/Chicago/Midwest (I cast a pretty wide net, I know lol). Which of these gives me the best opportunity to do that? The program cost is a secondary consideration for me at this point, I just need to put my best foot forward. Which of these options has the better reputation and placement statistics? I have to make a decision in the next few days, and I'd really appreciate any help, advice, and information you guys can provide. Please, PLEASE, PLEEEAASSSEE HELP! I'm at a complete loss as to which direction to go.

Considering that Washington University is located in the Midwest and is one of the best MSFs, that seems to be the only logical choice.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards WashU also, but Vandy's and Rochester's NY place-ability complicate the decision slightly. Purdue's only still in the picture because it's the most inexpensive program. Do any of you guys have placement statistics or any additional information for WashU? I'm having a hard time finding any concrete facts.

Looks like I'd been misinformed. I'll look into that a bit deeper. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! Any idea what percentage of students had jobs upon graduation (or even 3 months after grad)?

Take a toss between Washington and Rochester. Definitely not Purdue, and while Vand is decent academically, you can't get good connectivity there

WUSTL doesn't give scholarship money to specialized masters. Don't go to Purdue. Go Rochester if you are financially sensitive.

Vandy and WUSTL are both "better" than Rochester with regards to placement, but Simon is a well respected and globally known brand. If you want a good education, good brand and reasonable cost go Rochester. If you can afford the increase costs and want better OCR, go WUSTL/Vandy.

Thanks, Ant! Do you think Rochester has a stronger brand than Vandy/WashU? How would you rank the three, based solely on the branding?

I think Rochester has a better global name for corporate finance, but it isn't going to give you good odds at banking. Considering that you are an international student the odds of you landing a banking gig are going to be slim. I'd focus on landing that first job, whatever it might be and then think about banking.

Do know that Rochester is comprised of a lot of international students. You might want to go to a program with less internationals that way you all aren't competing for the few positions that will sponsor you.

Hmm. I hadn't really thought about it in terms of competition for sponsorship. Thanks for pointing that out.

Hey,

what did you decide?

I am also in a similar situation.

I have admits from SUNY Buffalo, Uni of Rochester, Purdue and Tulane University.

Kindly suggest

Do not go to SUNY Buffalo. I did my undergrad there, the absolute best OCR they offer is back-office local roles at Citi. Alumni also want nothing to do with you, and if they're in a good position, they're thankful they got out. From what I have heard, there hasn't been a single FO IB placement in 3-4 years.
