Wall Street Mastermind Scam Awareness Post -- Removed??

I noticed that a recent top post creating awareness for the WSMM scam is now gone.

The post does not violate any of the community guidelines, as far as I can see: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/wso-user-guidelin…

I think people on this forum have the right to share experiences and stay informed. For moderators to step in and remove a post that doesn't directly violate any rules would be overstepping bounds. User reviews have long been one of the community's best tools in promoting good businesses and weeding out toxic/exploitative ones. Judging by the number of upvotes this post had, it had clearly helped many people. In less than 24 hours, it was already one of the most-upvoted posts of the month.

So why was it removed?? Potential theories:

1) WSO mods removed it. It's possible Sam himself saw it and emailed WSO in rage. Maybe he threatened a defamation suit. A desperate attempt to censor the truth.

2) OP himself/herself decided to take it down. Maybe he didn't want too much attention / had personal details in post history. I really don't see much convincing logic here.

@mods We'd be grateful if you could clarify some of the points above. After all, the reason why WSO is so popular is because people generously share tips and experiences for the community to learn from. Why do users come here, and not the financial careers Reddit thread or somewhere else? It's the strength of the community and free discourse. Please help us preserve that.

Update: seems like the post is still here (https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/sam-shiah-…), but WSO prevents it from appearing under "Top Discussions", "Popular Content", or "Recently Active". In other words, they're significantly decreasing the post's visibility. Again-- I don't think this is fair to the community.

I have had it happen a few times with my posts. Usually it occurs with political/controversial topics that have a rowdy comment section. It will stay on the "trending" section for a few hours then just disappear. Idk if there are moderators or what on here, but its bullshit that they are trying to censor your post which had good information that was beneficial to the community.

Someone mentioned a few months ago that WSO was looking for funding, so my guess is that they take down anything that could be a bad look to investors in fear that they don't want this to turn into some alt-right political conspiracy board (which it never will). Kind of a shame

Post is still here as of now. Sad to think that Sam might be resorting to such measures to save his failing business. Resorting to Stalin-esque authoritarian censorship is one of the most desperate things one can do. People come to WSO to get honest information. We didn't come here for the CCP to have absolute power in controlling what posts we see.

It's not a scam, it's a legit program, just overpriced and has shitty marketing tactics. Let's reserve the word scam for actual scams, we don't want it to lose its meaning.

Only throwing bananas cuz I don't like Sam - he came across as very condescending in his LinkedIn messages and posts.

I did an offcycle IB internship and was recruiting for summer (I eventually got an offer) and he kept telling me why "I wasn't getting interviews" even though I kept telling him I was lol. How can his program be premium pricing when he doesn't even tailor needs to each client (like needing help in the applying process versus getting an offer from super days). What a douchebag.

not here to get into a pointless argument with anyone so I'll only comment this once: you guys give me way too much credit it's honestly amusing.

let's just think critically about this: why in the world would WSO conspire to help another company that technically competes with them? i don't know what you think I'm capable of but i have zero control over what WSO does. if i did then all of these inaccurate threads on WSO would never exist in the first place.

keep up the conspiracy theories if you want... doesn't make a difference to me really. I'm going to keep helping my clients.

Controversial

Honestly think you're over-hated on this site. Never used Sam's services but c'mon its not like he's actually scamming kids. Does he charge too much for most college students to afford? Yes. Are his ads annoying as hell? 100%. But he ultimately does do what he advertise and provide help to his clients. College students applying to IB are at least 20 years old and can think for themselves at that point on whether they want to shell out the price of a Speedmaster to slightly bump their chances of breaking into IB

Help you mean exploit? $6500 is insane dude and you know it. I saw your ads a million times, rightfully judged that you do not add anywhere near the value you charge people, didn’t pay anyone anything and landed a nice BB gig from a nontarget

Hey Sam I just saw the kid's update. You're an absolute piece of shit for threatening him. Gives a great idea of how shitty your services are

samshiah

you guys give me way too much credit it's honestly amusing.

Do you also find it amusing when you induce paranoia amongst students just to get them in an emotionally vulnerable place so that you can successfully sell your scarily overpriced services?

why in the world would WSO conspire to help another company that technically competes with them?

Considering yourself WSO's competitor is honestly self-flattery. WSO's forums have provided invaluable free advice to countless students, and the WSO guides/courses offer virtually what you do but at a fraction of the price.

if i did then all of these inaccurate threads on WSO would never exist in the first place.

Spoken like a true authoritarian.

keep up the conspiracy theories if you want... doesn't make a difference to me really. I'm going to keep helping my clients.

A hallmark of every successful company is extreme willingness to listen to the customer and incorporate their feedback. I don't understand why you're being so combative, especially when your own customers have taken the time to express their honest thoughts. Not a good look. I genuinely hope you can take some of this feedback and use it to reform your business practices.

How much do you want to bet that Sam threw the one MS at this post? Lmao...

hey guys and gals, the initial one I no bumped (didn't delete, should still be up) which is what we usually use for threads that we want to deemphasize.  I realize people feel strongly about his firm and I have no interest in protecting his company, I just thought that anyone with a brain that can Google will find that thread (and now this one) and piling on even more wouldn't serve much purpose.  Trending posts stay up for ~72hrs anyways and I think it was up for ~48hrs.  Either way, this one has not been no bumped so I'm not sure why it's not showing up on trending.  I'll ask the devs and get back to you all by tomorrow.

The original post is back up again but the heading and commentary is completed changed.

It now shows comments about how Sam reached out to them and how they were wrong to bash him. I’d bet the entire $8k WSMM tuition that Sam paid this guy off to edit the comment.

Such a loser. Keep this thread popping to end this puppet master.
