No idea, just came back from a trip in the last few months. Would love to go away again, but depends on when I can get leave, and my partner can also only take leave during narrow windows.

Some considerations which we've discussed include: * Korea and Japan (I've been to Japan but not Korea) * Chile and Argentina * China (potentially Western China) and/or Malaysia (partner not too keen) * Europe (maybe something like France/Switzerland/Germany, which I've visited a lot, but maybe Central/Eastern Europe instead so we can both go somewhere new)

Anywhere we go depends on when we can get time off and how far afield we can travel. Partner would like to go to Europe, but if going to a foreign country, somewhere in Asia would be a much more convenient option for us (we've gone twice in the past year).

I've visited over 20 countries, have lived in Spain, China, and most importantly NYC and at this point am chilling out for a minute.

I went to Spain for 6 months to study abroad in Valencia through UVA. Good times

I really want to do Thailand. Check out some of the cities, the countryside, and the Full Moon party, but I think this trip is still a bit far off. Current trips will likely be in North America once stuff reopens. Thinking stuff like Vegas, Montreal, and New Orleans as options. Also might go down to my buddy's ranch in Tennessee.

given that Japan is hosting the Olympics, I would think that travel to Asia could be doable in 2021 with proper vaccination/negative test stuff. that said, I probably wouldn't book that trip yet.

my 2021 travels really depend on europe. if europe opens, I'll be spending 3 weeks in the southern europe (TBD on when). if not, 2021 looks something like this:

winter: caribbean (greater antilles)

summer: costa rica

fall/winter: caribbean again (southern, maybe colombia, panama, belize)

Yeah for me I think the delay on the Thailand trip is more of a factor of friends having trouble aligning timing these days rather than things being open. If I wanted, I could go in the summer or fall but the group I go with might be pretty tiny compared to everyone who wants to come.

Caribbean definitely would be nice. I thought about doing something like that to hold me over but I again don't think I'll be able to really get as many friends to commit compared to ones who would do stuff domestically.

Your lineup sounds great tho. Costa Rica is beautiful. Are you just posting up in one place in the Med or are you gonna bounce around a bit?

All of those are great, but I think Montreal in particular is fairly underrated. Great food city, nice bars, really chill people and awesome concerts.

I love it up there. I grew up outside Boston so that was the trip everyone did when we were 18 to go drink. Been a bunch of times since and always have a blast. Love catching Habs-Bruins games, love the nightlife, and love all the stuff there is to do during the days.

I've spent some time in other parts of Eastern/Central Europe given my heritage and have really come to enjoy that part of the world.

I'm trying to organize a trip with my friends for when things normalize to Poland and Hungary, and maybe Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria. Been to Poland and the Czech Republic a lot and Vienna once, but really looking forward to Budapest especially and seeing Poland again since I haven't been there in awhile.

I plan on moving to either Austin, Palo Alto, or Boulder within a year or two.

Not sure what I want to do at this point definitely not medicine, or banking. I'll probably keep founding startups until one is successful, and join a tech firm in growth or development with my startup experience. There is simply too much uncertainty in ones life to be able to predict the future with any accuracy my preferences might change in the future.

Or find a nice cardboard box to live in, after I've spent my last funds on a one way ticket to Hawaii. Tip (If you are going to be homeless might as well live in paradise).

I went to Boulder last year for a race and thought the area was really chill. Jealous.

I was supposed to do London & Barcelona this year pre-COVID. Not sure if I want to re-book that trip or do Italy once everything is open.

Heard people say that since the pandemic devastated the economies of countries like Spain and Italy, the number of petty crimes, car break-ins increased significantly recently.  Not sure how true it is and how it affects people traveling there.

I got pinged to this thread but I don't see my name anywhere. Anything I can help anyone with?

Oh wow, haven't been to Florence in a looong time.

And it's not good at all. Italy has one of the strictest lockdowns around yet the highest mortality rate. I was there in the summer but now it's hard to even say what's worse: deaths, economic damage, freedoms curtailed. Really hard to make plans ahead by months if you want to visit the country. I wouldn't recommend it at the moment. You simply wouldn't enjoy it and waste your money.

Spain is doing okay right now except Barcelona. I might be in the country some time next year for work, so if anyone wants to meet up, let me know and I will see if we can organize something. I still don't think this is the right time to come to any Western European country. We will see in a bit if the situation improves with the vaccines.

Was supposed to go to Vancouver and Israel this year, so pissed about missing those.

100% serious. Plan is to go there once everything is normal normal, i.e., pre-COVID normal, not the new normal with masks etc. Concern is that it might not be next year, but 2022.
