Your mom?
Caltech
Agreed here. I have a friend who went to UPenn and studied nanotechnology for BS and MS in 4 years but was rejected by Caltech.
That doesn’t mean shit? I was accepted by Dartmouth, CalTech, Brown, Columbia, but was rejected by HYP, Stanford, Penn. college applications are a crapshoot
would agree here. My cousin got a PhD from there and is now literally working on curing cancer at a biotech firm in San Fran
Store dealers in the back streets of Mumbai
Also, Dick Fuld
Trump
Masayoshi San! most savvy investor of our time
Edit in response to below: clearly, someone isn't familiar with sarcasm..
If I could short an entire person, it would be Masa
Can you explain to me why he is so smart?
He's not that's the joke...
How do you define smart?
And therein lies the rub. The OP's question is of no meaning by itself.
not people asking questions like that
People that work at Renaissance Technologies.
Idk. All those qualifications and they decide to go change money around for a living? The truly smart people stay in STEM and make a contribution to humanity.
Coming from the guy making a living off of writing research reports on already public information, your perspective on contribution is interesting
Have you met average people? Fuck society, make money and live however you want regardless of what anyone else thinks.
Renaissance does more good than tech companies/ by virtue of not being a monolithic blood-sucking organism promising change through tech and delivering isolationism and destabilization.
They are contributing to fund owners by making their lives even more awesome. If you want to retire early (which is the reason we work) then work at RenTec,
I'd have to agree.
Can you explain to me why the are so smart?
Obivously. Simons himself is probably one of the smartest persons alive.
What makes him the smartest Person you know?
Hedge Fund managers no doubt. Think of the typical heads of Citadel, Bridgewater, RenTech, SAC to name a few
Definitely SAC - they could predict some large cap M&A exactly one day pre-announcement.
They were definitely NOT UNCERTAIN about many of their trades
Can you explain to me why they are smart?
Long story short- they realize that you're going to be working on someone's agenda regardless of whether you work for a corporation, non-profit, or the govt.
Rather than working for someone else's agenda, they're smart enough to line their own pockets, hence working on their own agenda.
at least that's my take
Jeff Skilling is fucking smart.
haha good quote
Probably any aerospace engineer could qualify as the 95th percentile of smartest people on the planet. Engineers that actually build the freaking Self-Landing rockets have my eternal respect to them (SpaceX wink wink). Kudos to Elon Musk who makes all of it happen. Musk may not be the greatest businessmen nor CEO ever. But his contribution to space exploration and tech are invaluable
lol average aerospace engineer is probs closer to top 85th. They just have inhumane abilities to focus on small, boring things for long periods of time.
If that’s what defines intelligence many of the people on this board are in the top 1%…
Top 85th percentile is below a 100 IQ.
My cousin is married to the guy in charge of the algorithm for one of the self-landing rockets; always makes holiday dinners interesting
Wow, would love to have a convo with him.
How many untouched planets has Musk landed rockets on again?
Peter Thiel
William James Sidis
Generally speaking, singaporeans, followed by hong kong and taiwan have the highest iqs in the world.

IQ by country leaves off those ethnicities who exist across many countries (Jews)
Are you implying that jewish people are not considered citizens of the countries they live in? Do jews not assimilate and practice the traditions and participate in the same communities as the other people in the same country? My guess is that the percentage of Jews is so small in 99.9% of countries that they do not have a significant impact on the average score of a nations IQ.
Yeah, but like, actively choose, or passively because they just grew up being nice?
It doesn't matter. All that matters is the present. To choose kindness over hate in the present - even if you've had kindness all your life, you may choose hate. Or even if you've had hate all your life, you could choose kindness.
But, it all begins with a thought. Thoughts, words, and actions.
If you've grown up in an environment of hate, neglect, lack of resources and such, filled with abuse and torn families, yeah it is going to take some work probably to know what kindness looks like.
succesful entrepreneurs
People who want to earn great money but understand life is not about money. Someone who wouldn't meet the criteria is an IB MD. This person grinded their butt off while sacrificing their lives (SO / parents / friends / kids) and even now that they make a ton of money, they can still never unplug as they're always on-call with their emails & constantly traveling, neglecting the people close to them.
You have to save & invest well so that you're not working absurdly hard your entire life while ignoring people that matter, your hobbies, etc.
This is a good answer. 95% of this thread is bs.

All the suggestions here pale in comparison to Adam Neumann.
Kid cooked up some equity story and a bullshit startup without the typical finance background, duped some of the largest VCs into giving him money, blew investor money doing whatever the fuck he wanted (private jets, exotic trips, etc), siphoned off investor money by over-billing his shitty startup (leases of his own buildings, company name use, etc.) got investors to re-invest more money, got banks to kiss his ass for a failed IPO attempt, and finally forced investors to pay him >$1b to fuck off.
Beat that...
Do you think most of the people on Reddit are broke? I was just taking a shit stoned and I'm like yo am I arguing with a bunch of broke folks right now
edit: I deleted "on the toilet" after "stoned" because im like yo thats redundant right?
I have a feeling some of them are unemployed stoners who just fuck around all day but also I have enough proof that specific pages are actually filled with very qualified and most likely rich people who use it when they can.

Ah, yeah, he´s a great guy, but have you heard he died of ligma?
The man who most probably deserves the title of "Most Raw Intellectual Power on the Plane" is a horse rancher with a frame like a linebacker on steroids. Seems like a nice guy, really, despite being literally fucked over by life in every single account. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Langan
