Agreed here. I have a friend who went to UPenn and studied nanotechnology for BS and MS in 4 years but was rejected by Caltech.

That doesn’t mean shit? I was accepted by Dartmouth, CalTech, Brown, Columbia, but was rejected by HYP, Stanford, Penn. college applications are a crapshoot

Coming from the guy making a living off of writing research reports on already public information, your perspective on contribution is interesting

Long story short- they realize that you're going to be working on someone's agenda regardless of whether you work for a corporation, non-profit, or the govt.

Rather than working for someone else's agenda, they're smart enough to line their own pockets, hence working on their own agenda.

at least that's my take

haha good quote

Probably any aerospace engineer could qualify as the 95th percentile of smartest people on the planet. Engineers that actually build the freaking Self-Landing rockets have my eternal respect to them (SpaceX wink wink). Kudos to Elon Musk who makes all of it happen. Musk may not be the greatest businessmen nor CEO ever. But his contribution to space exploration and tech are invaluable

lol average aerospace engineer is probs closer to top 85th. They just have inhumane abilities to focus on small, boring things for long periods of time.

Top 85th percentile is below a 100 IQ.

Are you implying that jewish people are not considered citizens of the countries they live in? Do jews not assimilate and practice the traditions and participate in the same communities as the other people in the same country? My guess is that the percentage of Jews is so small in 99.9% of countries that they do not have a significant impact on the average score of a nations IQ.

Who Are the Smartest People in the World?

The people who choose kindness over hate.

Matchwood:

Yeah, but like, actively choose, or passively because they just grew up being nice?

It doesn't matter. All that matters is the present. To choose kindness over hate in the present - even if you've had kindness all your life, you may choose hate. Or even if you've had hate all your life, you could choose kindness.

But, it all begins with a thought. Thoughts, words, and actions.

If you've grown up in an environment of hate, neglect, lack of resources and such, filled with abuse and torn families, yeah it is going to take some work probably to know what kindness looks like.

People who want to earn great money but understand life is not about money. Someone who wouldn't meet the criteria is an IB MD. This person grinded their butt off while sacrificing their lives (SO / parents / friends / kids) and even now that they make a ton of money, they can still never unplug as they're always on-call with their emails & constantly traveling, neglecting the people close to them.

You have to save & invest well so that you're not working absurdly hard your entire life while ignoring people that matter, your hobbies, etc.

All the suggestions here pale in comparison to Adam Neumann.

Kid cooked up some equity story and a bullshit startup without the typical finance background, duped some of the largest VCs into giving him money, blew investor money doing whatever the fuck he wanted (private jets, exotic trips, etc), siphoned off investor money by over-billing his shitty startup (leases of his own buildings, company name use, etc.) got investors to re-invest more money, got banks to kiss his ass for a failed IPO attempt, and finally forced investors to pay him >$1b to fuck off.

Beat that...

Do you think most of the people on Reddit are broke? I was just taking a shit stoned and I'm like yo am I arguing with a bunch of broke folks right now

edit: I deleted "on the toilet" after "stoned" because im like yo thats redundant right?
