Who does Joe Biden pick for Vice President?

He has already said he is picking a woman. This leads to the following women:

  • Kamala Harris
  • Amy Klobuchar
  • Elizabeth Warren
  • Gretchen Whitmer
  • Stacy Abrams
  • Catherine Cortez Masto
  • Tammy Duckworth

Spinoff? Who should he pick solely to defeat Trump?

If I were advising Biden, I would tell him to pick Arizona senator Kyrsten Sinema. She is young, "moderate," represents a key swing state that used to be strong GOP but is now a hotly contested swing state, first Dem elected to the senate from the state since 1988, and has shrewdly focused on doing work for her state rather than attack Trump and get involved in bitter partisan politics. Sinema would not only deliver Arizona but appeal to a wide swath of college educated suburban whites and Romney Republicans who really hate Trump.

VP picks usually don't matter too much in elections. This year the VP choice will be critical since due to Biden's age and dementia, he will only serve one term (quite possibly resign or pass away before his term is over) if elected. This means that the woman VP will either become President or be the Dem nominee in 2024. Biden should thus pick the person with the most wide appeal rather than pander to the hard left of his base and go with Harris or Abrams. Biden already pigeonholed himself by making a pledge to picks a woman, and he would be stupid to pick Harris or Abrams just to pander to the black community.

Sinema will never happen because if Biden wins, GOP governor Doucey would appoint a Republican to fill the vacancy. But it would be a brilliant bold move, one that Biden will never make. Biden is simply going to let his advisors run the campaign and the presidency and pander to whatever group he needs. Black woman VP? Sure. Black woman SCOTUS judge? You got it! Support reparations? Sure.

Interesting, in the past, if the Governor and leaving Senator are from different parties, do you know which party they have picked for the new Senator? It seems the polite thing to do would be to pick someone from the same political party as the leaving Senator. If it's true that Governors don't give a fuck and choose their own part, Dems could also make huge moves if a similar situation happens in Kentucky, Kansas, or Louisiana.

Edit: I looked it up here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_appointed_United_States_senators Depends on the Governor, Republican picked a Republican for NJ. Democrat picked a Republican for Wyoming, Independent picked an Indep for Minnesota, Dem picked a Dem for Georgia. Dem picked a Dem for Penn. So majority of the times yes, governors do what they want an don't care about which party the people voted for Senate.

You can smear any of the candidates, and the Trump campaign will. The Democrats will cite the litany of Trump’s shortcomings, including his intelligence and integrity. It’s a shame it has come to this.

My VP pick is not an infallible human being. It’ll be Kamala in order to draw turnout in Detroit, Philadelphia and other metropolitan areas.

Definitely won’t be Warren. Abrams lacks legitimate experience and it would be aggressively targeted that if anything did happen to Biden, she would not be the one you want in office. I do think she’ll be a contender for the Democrats down the road, but just not at this stage. My bet was on Gretchen Whitmer, if it wasn’t for her most recent blunder, so she’s also out. The two clear choices at this point appear to be either Harris or Klobuchar and I would have to think Harris is favored. if I was a betting man (which I am) I would throw heavily on Harris and sprinkle a little extra on the only person I think could legitimately come out of left field, Michelle Obama at +1000. I’ve got a few friends from college with deep family ties in Washington that already work high up on the Hill and the rumor is that the pick will most likely be African American and the idea of Michelle Obama being on the ticket isn’t as unlikely as the odds suggest. Just food for thought

She would be a great pick for many reasons but does she want to do it? No one knows. She does not need to do it, as she does not have much to prove to anyone. Her popularity is very high across the democratic party I think if offered the VP slot, she should accept it and take one for the team, meaning team USA.

The problem is that while she is very intelligent, she has no governing or legislative experience, so is not qualified to be President. I would much rather have someone who could know how to do the job on day 1 instead of figuring it out on the go like Trump is doing.

Come on. If its a black woman its gonna be Kamala. Michelle has no experience and Abrams basically doesn't either. Or maybe there is a black female governor/senator out there we are all forgetting about? Haven't checked

If he had common sense, he would pick Klobuchar. If you win PA, MI, & WI you win the presidency. Klobuchar helps all 3. She get's working class people, suburban women, and moderates.

Picking Kamala Harris would be the worse pick since HW picked Dan Quayle. Aligning the father of the crime bill with someone who arrested people for minor weed charges and parents for kids missing school wouldn't be smart. Also she comes across as a bitch and has a white husband.

Idk I think the day of seeing two whities on the democratic ticket may be over.

On a side note, Nikki Haley may be really tough to beat in 2024.

I agree with your views on Klobuchar and some of your comments about Harris. I am not sure about how having a white husband is relevant, though. I was going to give you a SB until you starting talking about how we are never going to see two white candidates on the ticket.

There's a lot of black men that don't like the idea of black woman with a white guy. Same stereotype you see of a white dad not being happy with his daughter dating a black guy. 2 biggest reasons why Obama defeated Hillary was her Iraq War vote and Michelle.

Since he was mixed he had to show his relatability with black voters and Michelle was the biggest reason for that. To win the democratic primary, you have to win the black votes and that's why Obama won and why Biden outlasted Bernie.

Kamala is such a political hack she's indian but never mentions it because it wouldn't get votes LOL

Our current president also has the intelligence of a 13 year old, but that doesn't mean I would be okay with nominating my little cousin.

Trump is not a genius, but he's smarter than people think. He is not a great speaker and makes a lot of verbal gaffes. You can't be dumb and become President of the United States. What he pulled off in 2016 is the greatest political upset in U.S. history.
