Alright. Well this didn't really get the reception I wanted.

Basically all I want to know was how bad does a 5 year plan work and should I try to twist it in any way.

Obviously a guy with great grades and lots of experience will look better than me. Nothing I can do about that other than market myself the best I can and push for something better. @ OGOFNYC, you actually sound like a entitled punk for trying to shit on someone who is just trying to find their way. If I would have been more prepared, responsible, and driven when I started college this would be a different conversation, youre right. You don't know me, and I actually have some decent experience for a research analyst role from extra curricular projects and club activities that have gone a long way in interviews. Also, I had bad grades my first 2 years but I have gotten them up in the last few semesters... if you arent going to offer any good advice keep it to yourself

i did offer you advice, it just tickled your vag differently. grow some balls first. i told you to get an internship, relevant experience always helps. fyi, i go to a non-target and have have 4 internships in ibd and s&t. i bust my ass. i played division 1 basketball my frosh year. i don't make sorry excuses for myself.

Do yourself a favor and graduate. Focus on getting relevant experience and networking. Look into a MSF.

You pretty much need a 3.0 to get into grad school, so maybe take an extra semester or a couple summer classes and just fill it with GPA boosters. Go to ratemyprofessor.com, ask friends for the easiest class they took, whatever. I also learned rather late that there's a whole game to finding the easiest possible classes, and it really doesn't add much work at all to your typical 6-9 credits in major + 3-6 moderately important credits. I got a 3.6 this past semester taking 2 stat classes, an econ class, a math class, and 2 electives (18 credits), easily .3 higher than I would've got without the GPA boosters.

Depends on the club. I've been in engineering clubs (that compete in national/international competitions), and you're spending at least 10, usually 15+ hours a week designing/building a Formula 1-style vehicle. How bad was your school or your extracurriculars, if you didn't have employers recruiting from the club members? Like this must be a 3rd Tier school thing, right? If you joined the 1 hour a week, sit down and do nothing clubs.. sure, you have a point.
