Sophomore Summer Internship Advice

Hey all,

For some context, I just finished my freshman year at a target school. Looking forward to next summer, I just received an offer to be a 2023 quantitative analyst for a major sports team. Always been a desire of mine to work a bit in sports, but I've never seen it as a viable long-term career choice. I'm debating taking this because I plan on recruiting for 2024 IB, and If I take this internship next summer, I won't have any major finance work experience on my resume before 2024.

How much of a "ding" will it be if I have no PE/IB internships before junior summer? Should I try to get a boutique internship during the school year to compensate? I am involved in a selective finance org on campus. If it matters, I'm also non-diversity. Should I take the internship? Thanks!
