Kamala
Thoughts on her? Saw recently Melinda Gates endorsed her and gave a bunch of money. If she wins I might have to commit seppuku. Will be interesting to see who she picks as a running mate.

was about to say, looks like you got a little excited
hahhaahahaaha
Hey, did you see any errors while posting the topic? Trying to reproduce that and will appreciate any details that may help to fix that
Yeah an error message came on, but I don’t remember exactly what it said. I was using Safari on an iPhone. It said it was an error posting so I hit submit a couple times more and thought it didn’t post at all, then 4 posts appeared.
I think people will be surprised at how moderate she is, considering how both parties have vastly shifted to their extremes. She's a real cop haha. She's a Narc.
I personally think she will pick Kelly as her running mate. But over the last day he has become the betting odds favorite.
Don't even know where to begin. Her candidacy is such a joke. They finally admitted paw paw was unfit and are now trying to convince us that her psychotic ass is the best thing since sliced bread. The sad thing is that I think a lot of people that were previously on the fence are going to side with Kamala. They couldn't get over Joe's age, but now that he's not a factor Kamala seems like the sane choice (which to me is insane). Putting my trust in God that He has a plan for this country.
Well, you can vote for her or vote for a person who wants to get rid of elections.
Why is her candidacy a joke? If Mr Biden is as unfit as you claim, then Mrs Harris is the logical next in line to be POTUS - that's literally the job of the Vice President. So her candidacy is the exact opposite of a joke. But please, go on and tell me you don't know what you're talking about in a new way!
Second... it's always amazing to me that a Trump supporter has the gall to claim someone else is unfit for office. Even at his lowest, Mr Biden is quite obviously more mentally competent and exhibits less sign of cognitive decline than Mr Trump. It's just that we've long since stopped holding Mr Trump to any kind of moral or intellectual standards.
I can't fucking stand Biden but this argument wins.
Until last night, I did not realize that she is half Indian. At the moment, she is very popular among dems because most are glad to see Biden off the ticket. I guess the one thing that works against her is that she is cat lady without her own children.
She doesn't give a rats ass about it, She only very recently brought it up to try and build up a small votebank.
Although there were posters of her in her hometown in india wishing for her to win
it's shocking that anybody cares wether somebody else has kids or not. it's a reasonable choice not to have kids, especially if you're middle class. if you're poor, then getting kids is the most fun you can get in life. if you're rich, then you can afford babysitters to outsource all the work it takes to raise kids and still have fun in life. but if you're in the middle, getting kids is not the best option. you can have a better life without them.
what is actually cringe is how Trump points out that she's female (when he said that "we won't have a socialist president, especially a female socialist president") as if it's a problem in our day and age. and Vance is talking about her having a cat and no children. that's really low level of behavior that you observe among little kids. you'd expect politicians to point out holes in their opponent's policies rather than saying "you're a cat lady haha" and giving nicknames ("laughing Kamala", as if laughing is bad).
there are actually plenty of problems in Dems' political stance but all they can talk about is her being a woman and not having kids. so cringe.
You may or may not know that I was being sarcastic. Obviously, the more JD Vance speaks, the more foolish he looks and the more energized the dems become. The cat lady thing is going to be in commercials. Then, he goes on to say that dems are anti family. Even though these words are targeted at conservative audiences, independents eventually hear the comments. He was a dreadful pick for Donald Trump. Most of the time, VP choices do not matter all that much, especially when they are non controversial. JD Vance could end up being the Sarah Palin of 2024
This seems to be the year of the Indian
So far, 8 days into, her campaign is executing very effectively.
Her “National Organizing” zoom call on Tuesday 7/30 at 7:15pm EDT I’m going to guess will break the record for zoom calls by 2X or 3X. A record broken twice last week 30K Black Women for Kamala, followed by 150K White Women for Kamala.
I like Kelly, Shapiro and Walz. They all have their pros and cons. Walz being the best speaker / attack dog. Shapiro being the second best plus brings PA. Kelly isn’t as good of a speaker, but he has the eye popping resume, which for the lower information voters might be all that’s needed. A do no harm, but easy to categorize VP pick in Mark Kelly - Iraq War fighter pilot, Space Commander, moderate, older white guy who delivers Arizona. Gives me images of improving our levels of education, science, space technologies, and defense alliances. That’s appealing to Never Trumpers, McCain Republicans, and older men.
Trump cozying up to Crypto, MMA, and demoting the Dollar from being the World’s reserve currents is just weird for a major party candidate.
I have a feeling Biden was going to drop out earlier but Dems waited until after the Vance VP pick. The timing was strategic and I said Dems didn’t have to do anything publicly until after the RNC. Schumer saying Trump should replace him, is going to lock him into keeping Vance. Crazy how that works.
So much can happen in the next 99 days until Election Day.
Yeah - it will be interesting.
Regardless of how popular Kamala has become, she has to win battle ground states. IMO, the dems can not win without PA. Picking Shapiro as VP should lead to her winning PA and it’s 19 votes. Kelly is a harmless pick in a state that only has 11 votes.
I wouldn't say her campaign is executing anything. This is just pent up energy that has been suppressed due to a senile man occupying the presidency. The winds are pretty easy to shift when there were nothing but headwinds coming from your own side for the past 3 months. When you couple that up with the blatant gaslighting that is going on surrounding her record and Biden's health it is pretty easy to drum up a bunch of support from those who are enthralled by every tiktok meme that has ever gone mainstream.
What is going to matter is to see her go head to head against some actual pushback. She has a history of completely collapsing when faced with any kind of adversity. Want to see what she is actually like? Go read interviews with her former staffers. Shes going to enter debate 2 and get steamrolled. The Trump Biden debate will look absolutely academic by comparison.
Do not like Kamala, but above poster nailed it that her campaign has been very effectively in its execution -- polls generally show her and Trump are neck & neck. Arguably picking a candidate to deliver battleground states could put her ahead
In hindsight, Trump should have waited until post both conventions to schedule debates and done 1 in late Aug / Sept and other one in Oct...that way Biden would have been forced to stay on the ticket. I would almost say this was predictable (what may not have been was the magnitude of Biden's poor performance) knowing 1) he's prone to gaffes, 2) he's over 80yrs old, 3) his cognitive state is declining rapidly and 4) cognitive declines accelerate vs. linear trend line so even a few months actually would make Biden even less sharp. This was completely preventable in my view, the Trump campaign squandered a winning opportunity
Kamala also just has far few angles of attack given she can only be blamed for so much as the incumbent (Biden would naturally take most of it), and she brings in minority votes more effectively. Just a fat L, Trump's near assassination is really helping his numbers but election feels like a tossup (though I haven't done much research into battleground states so that's the swing factor)
Side note, good article in WSJ today about how young men and young women are MASSIVELY diverging. Former is going more Republican and latter mode Democrat. This shift has already been seen in South Korea for a while now where like 66% of men support the more conservative candidate and same % of women back the liberal candidate. This dynamic is here to stay IMO
She's an utter joke of a candidate. She could barely even poll at 1% when she ran and dropped out before Super Tuesday because new flash - a California super progressive polls horribly in swing states with undecided voters, independents, and even Democrat moderates. She's more unlikable than Hilary and comedically dumber and less effective as any sort of political leader. She was the MOST leftist of all the Senators, co-sponsoring (or voting for?) the fewest bipartisan or Republican authored bills. Her 1 "title" during this administration has been "the border czar" which is what everyone from CNN to MSNBC was calling her right up until Biden dropped out and suddenly it's a right-wing conspiracy - meanwhile more illegals have entered the country under her watch than the population of like 15+ different states, which on it's own will be a massive headwind given it's 1 of the top 2 issues being polled for this election.
Her positions are amazingly inconsistent. She laughed about smoking weed while simultaneously imprisoning nearly 2,000 people for possession in CA, which is the inconsistency Tulsi Gabbard brought up on the debate stage which nuked her presidential run from orbit. She tried to conceal on multiple occasions evidence that would have exonerated innocent people she put into prison to protect her prosecution record and keep them being used to cheap labor. She acts as some sort of scion for progressivism when she's the descendent of one of the most notorious slave owners in Jamaica. Her own father refused to attend her wedding and has estranged himself from her because of how much of a liar she is and how she regularly misrepresents their family. She's by far the scummiest candidate that ran for the DNC nomination in 2020.
The funniest thing of all though has to be leftists who try to attack Trump as a womanizer and over the Stormy Daniels stuff when Kamala was literally the other woman to multiple marriages. She was a side piece for Montel Williams (not a marriage) for years and then got her ENTIRE political career in CA kicked off by being a mistress to Willie Brown when he was the mayor of SF. She's had people who went to school with her come out and flat out say she was the town bicycle for frats at Howard University, which makes perfect sense now given her politics. She's the epitome of a morally duplicitous social climber.
I'm glad she's the candidate. Without a doubt easier to beat than Biden.
Humorous summary from Michael Malice:
Thank you for letting me know that you are terminally online
Thanks for your thoughtful, evidence-laden contribution to the conversation. You're right someone being read up on a Presidential nominee's record is cringe, much better if they just walk in high off the historic fumes of voting for the first mixed black indian woman because that is what really matters lmao
The bar for all of your points should be Donald Trump and it is a very low one
"She is less likeable than Clinton", which might be true but half of this country despises Trump
"She is a liar." Sorry but Trump is a pathological liar. He is basically indifferent between the truth and lies
"She had relationships with men" Sorry but Trump accused of sexual assault by dozens of women.
""She is dumber than Clinton" That might be true but Trump has nothing in his educational background other than his daddy buying him a ticket to Penn. No one remembers him at Penn because because he probably did not attend many classes
Here's a brilliant idea- how about both sides drop the ad hominem attacks, and we debate over who is the best candidate based on the policies of each candidate. I really don't care what Kamala or Trump do in their free time, if they have a weird laugh, if they own cats or if their companies failed, but I want to vote for someone whose policies are going to be best for America. All of the sensationalist attacks detract from the real issues that people care about. If MSNBC or Fox News wants to run a hit piece on a candidate based on their economic policy, that's fine and I'd probably read it, but the news is focusing on everything that doesn't matter
She's going to struggle immensely with the black male voters who despise her for marrying a Jewish (white) man and for her history of prosecuting black men.
It's funny because black male voters started polling higher after Trump was a convicted felon and shot at. Black male voters recognize Trump has been through the struggle of life and injustices in the legal system.
I don't know anything about her, but anybody is better than a guy who just said "vote for me this one time and you won't have to vote again. we will fix it. and you won't have to vote". if we get someone like this in the office, who will fabricate election results and change the laws to keep the power to himself and family and friends, then it's the end of America as we know it. there are other countries with such regimes, like Russia, Belorus, etc., and all of them are really bad places to live in. you guys care about money and taxes - think about what will happen to your investments and jobs if US has a president who fixes elections to stay in power until death and then passes the throne to his kids.
When the choice is to vote for someone who literally attempted to do the Jefferson Davis and... literally anyone else, there is a very good chance that the non-Jefferson Davis wannabe is the only acceptable candidate
Here we go folks, we have found someone more deranged than financeabc.
Deranged about what? What he said is not in dispute. He admires dictators so it makes sense that he would want to eliminate elections.
Donald tried to overthrow the government of the United States. Jefferson Davis tried to overthrow the government of the United States.
If this reality makes you that upset, you should probably reflect on that.
He was speaking to a historically low relative turnout voter group saying they need to go out and vote this 1 time, then he will fix the county (not the elections themselves goofy), then they can go back to not voting afterward. If you watched the actual speech with context instead of the clip and hysteria on CNN you would actually know that. Your either inability or willful refusal to perceive sarcasm and humor in a guy that's used them in his speeches for the better part of a decade now is impressive, and not in a good way.
When you make a joke, you laugh or smile. He did neither. I do not think it was a joke because he said it with a straight face and is fond of dictators. He also said to a Christian crowd that he is not a Christian which makes less sense than his comments about voting, haha.
How does that make sense? What can he do so that Christians won't need to vote ever again?
It was pretty clear from the broader context that Trump meant "we won't need the Christian vote four years later because everyone will like what we did".
But go on buying what the leftist media is selling you. Curious, do you cut away from MSNBC every afternoon to watch The View?
What can he do so that Christians won't need to vote 4 years later?
From pretty much every standpoint the logical and obvious choice.
I know they didn't mean it to happen this way, but it's really 4th dimensional chess in some ways. Look, Mr Trump is obviously incompetent and obviously unfit to be POTUS, and everyone knows that. I doubt there is a single American who will vote for Mr Trump who wasn't going to do so regardless of who his opponent was: as we've seen, Trump supporters don't really care about policy, they care about "hurting the right people". A Republican with an actual policy platform isn't voting in this election.
So the entire election comes down to Democratic turnout (as I suppose every election does, given the vast unpopularity of the GOP and it's positions in broader American society). Mr Trump and his allies have had years to hammer at Mr Biden, to blame him for things that aren't his fault or deny him credit he is justly due (as well as blame him for things that are his fault, obviously). That's it. That is the entire strategy. There is no new voter out there for Mr Trump, there is merely the attempt to keep potential Biden voters at home.
And they were doing an effective job! But all the specific things that Mr Trump and his team took such pains to make a Biden issue, now don't apply! The beauty and genius of conservative messaging is that they've tied all this shit to Mr Biden personally; inflation, the botched execution of Mr Trump's Afghanistan deal, the immigrant crisis that GOP is fuelling... all of that is Biden's fault, down to the "I Did That" stickers at the gas pump. But now Biden isn't running, and a few months isn't enough time to change that messaging. Mrs Harris effectively has a clean slate, and for a Trump campaign that cannot point to any positives or redeeming features in it's own candidate and relies solely on negativity about the opponent, that's a big deal!
I don't know how you can make a statement like this. It's ridiculous, wrong, and naive to think the world only supports your viewpoints. You have to at least be somewhat knowledgeable that some people think Trump is fit to be president from the news or polls.
What the average mouth breathing conservative thinks (or rather, is told by Fox News) isn't material. My standards are my own. Joe Biden was and is also fit to be POTUS, in that case. I think it's quite clear that by any standard, Mr Trump is far more cognitively impaired that Mr Biden. If you think Mr Trump is a stable genius, so be it... but in that case at least have the honesty to admit that Mr Biden makes Stephen Hawking look like a halfwit
A man who cannot string a full sentence together shouldn't be President. That is, and has been, Mr Trump to a T.
Ms Harris. Mrs Harris is that lady who went to Paris to buy a dress
You know what I find funny. The MAGA types that cry about "diversity" hires won't be making these claims with a straight face when her VP will be so explicitly and unambiguously the exact type of "diversity" hire they seethe over
What's crazy to me is that there are actually non-loser men who will support her. Joe Burrow was reportedly on the "white guys for Kamala" call which, I mean, the name alone tells you all you need to know about how these idiots view the world.
Can't imagine how rushed Joe's halftime routine is now that I know he pees sitting down.
The alternative is far worse with a guy who has no interest in anything other than himself. Policies aside, she has much more experience than her opponent. You may not like her policies but that is a different issue. She was a prosecutor, a DA, a senator and a vice president. Trump was none of these things before being elected POTUS.
delete
Your claim is seriously that the person who has never been President is more experienced at being President than the guy who was previously President for four years?
"You may not like her policies..." During her time in the US Senate, she was the single most liberal senator. She was to the left of Bernie Sanders. So, brushing over the whole "policies" thing is kind of bizarre. Are you expecting people to vote based on a candidate's Linkedin resume? "Oh look, this person went to a higher ranked law school--better vote for him! Who cares about, ya know, public policy?"
To me its unbelievably childish that someone will base their presidential vote on which candidate is an asshole.
I don't like assholes either. But one party wants to take us in the direction of Europe and the other party (relatively speaking) has a more traditional view of government and generally plans to stay the fuck out of my way so I can build the life I want. Again, relatively speaking.
Agree with that or don't, but please be enough of an adult to vote based on your plans for what you want to accomplish in your life. There should be no room whatsoever for your inner child's anger at the playground bully you met 20-30 years ago.
Responses like this is why the "Republicans are Weird" messaging has taken off and resonated. You guys are so online that you've lost complete touch with the world.
“White guys for X” is weird as fuck man
LOL @ borrowing the latest online catchphrase while saying others are online too much.
Yeah dude, conservatives are the weird ones. Not the woman who announced her candidacy on a drag show, the folks who argue men can get pregnant, and try to pass legislation asserting that children can consent to chemical castration because they think they should be the opposite sex.
shocked to see this much support for her on here. she is horrendous.
"I am meeting with a lot of folks. And the work that we have begun is the work that is going to be ongoing. There is no question, and I said this from the beginning, that our approach to this issue has to be with a commitment to a long term investment and it has to be a commitment to consistency, the United States has to be consistent. There were times when were more engaged and we saw good results, less engaged, and we can see where the work and the partnerships then deteriorate. So I am committed to ensuring that we engage in an active way on the root causes, on addressing the cause and effect, and also being partners in the western hemisphere, understanding that we have a responsibility and if we ignore that responsibility it will visit itself upon us in a very domestic way."
