Oliver Peoples
I wear black Versaces with silver rims. Glasses are extremely over priced, but if you wear them you know how important they are so I say buy whatever looks good.
How can you get glasses recommendations on an internet forum? Everyone is different, what looks good on you might look ridiculous on someone else and vice versa.
Go to a high end optician and get them to tell you what glasses look best on your face. Then just go to your local optician and put that advice to use.
If your a tool like the poster above, just get some Oliver People or Tom Ford frames and take solace in the fact that despite the fact that you look like an idiot, people will know you spent a lot of money on your glasses and this somehow implies that your worth knowing.
But you are right of course.
Cartier, Oliver Peoples, and Gold & Wood
Can't go wrong with a fresh pair of Gogs, lol.
Regards
Check out Silhouettes, not terribly cheap but very minimal and light. They are made out of titanium so they are very durable. I've had a few pairs of them and love them.
http://www.silhouette.com/
Note: They are rimless.
get lasik - definitely worth it
+1, couldn't recommend it more. The only downside is that you sort of have to take car of your eyes after that. No 12 hours in front of the computer in a row.
Also, check out computer glasses. They apparently are powered such that you can stare at a computer for days at an end (I do not in any way, shape or form endorse this practice) and it won't have any sort of negative affect upon your eyes because they're (your eyes) actually focussed such that they aren't focussed on objects (such as the monitor) close to you, but rather 20-30 feet away
I apologize in advance for my horrible explanation, I'll try to make it up by linking you guys to a google search: http://www.google.co.in/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=computer+glas…

Silhouettes the best. Agree with earlier poster.

http://oliverpeoples.com/shop/men/optical/executive-ii#executive-ii-mat…
Or does it not look conservative enough?
I like those, but the O'Malley's are better.
Wear whatever glasses you're comfortable with as long as they're not too far out there. Those are fine if you like them.
Good choice to go with glasses as compared to contacts when you start staring at a computer screen all day. I mis-wore contacts all through college (kept non extend wear ones in for days for example) and it never bothered me but after about 1 month of staring at a computer screen 12+ hrs/day I had to scrap them. When your prescription stops changing get lasik (or whatever it's currently called).
I like those. Reminds me of Cyril Figgis from Archer. If your going for cheap but reliable I recommend checking out Warby Parker.
Sorry, but this is absolute insanity. I can understand not wanting to wear a gold Rolex or a Ferragamo belt to work, but glasses? Really? No one will pay attention to your glasses. I might occasionally notice a Ray Ban logo on a pair, but all I think it "Oh, I have sunglasses from that same company." Geeze, just buy a pair and wear them.
Kid watched American psycho and then hopped on Oliver peoples for some goggles lol
Not to steal this post, but just to not make another topic about glasses, anyone know of any cheaper brands that look like either of these Lindburg glasses? (I came across them the other day in a store. They look and feel great, but I'm not going to pay $750 for a pair of glasses as an analyst)
Half Rim: http://www.viziooptic.com/designer-eyeglasses/LINDBERG-7335-90-c.K101-U…
Rimless: http://www.theoculist.com/up/lindberg-rimless-ladies-designer-glasses.p…
I just like the rimless/semi rim look... and these looked/felt really good. So hoping people might have had luck with some other brands.
Is this half rim enough? https://www.warbyparker.com/eyeglasses/men/ramsay/brushed-bark
I just do Warby Parker, cheap as hell and looks good. Plan to buy a few pairs next month just to have the option to switch it up.
If you're feeling cheap, go with https://www.eyebuydirect.com/ I usually wear contacts, so when I get a pair of glasses I'll just get something for like $50 on here. They're surprisingly nice quality, so I've never had any complaints. I've had nothing but pleasant experience with them
The glasses you wear normal? Mine are dark red and slightly hipster-ish. But they look good on my face, so I wear them.
Love those glasses. Maybe you might also want to look at Warby Parker for alternatives.
Oliver Peoples are definitely great. It looks good, feels good and it's great quality - it's even nice to just hold them in your hands. I have a pair of Fairmount (Amaretto and Honey color) - great glasses, best I've ever had. A bit expensive but if you take good care of them I would say they're worth it.
As for whether people pay attention to glasses - most likely people that don't wear prescription glasses won't pay much attention. They will most likely not even know about Oliver Peoples. But, I've noticed that as someone who wears glasses I often pay attention to what other people wear - more so than which watch they have on their wrist. I think having a frame that suits you and gives you a smarter look can leave a good impression! Imagine even if your manager turns out to be wearing the same brand - always a topic for discussion or something in common.
Pick the shape that suits you and the color that you like and you are good to go!
Those are nice. I'm sure you'll be fine wearing them.
Nice collection!
Patrick Bateman wears Oliver Peoples, so you should be good

I wear Raybans Wayfares for just about every occasion
what does your sunglasses on the weekend have to do with your profession?
Almost made me laugh.
I usually wear Costas, and I also like Maui Jims.
Because everything in your life needs to be dictated by your profession. Next thing you know people will start asking which toothpaste brand bankers use. C'mon, really guys? I understand questions regarding professional dress in the workplace, but on the weekends?? When you're not working?? If you're hanging out with your coworkers on the weekends and are afraid they're gonna judge you on your sunglasses, then maybe you're working for the wrong bank or group.
banker sunglasses, lol!
From what cars bankers drive to what sunglasses bankers wear? Seriously? Just fucking get what you like and can afford, it's not like you're gonna wear it to the office........
Oliver Peoples
The kind of glasses that suits the banker’s face. I think aviators are the only ones that define the profession. Otherwise for the rest of the world I doubt there is any particular kind. Plus banker’s hardly go out. They can wear any glasses that suit their face. Not just one kind.
Ok seriously shit for that?
I like Tom Ford the best, although I do have a nice pair of Ray Bands I wear on occasion, but Tom Ford scream class and command respect
Oliver Peoples, for some reason whenever I go shopping for new sunglasses theres always a set of Oliver Peoples that I come around to.
Persol
Got some Warby Parkers, both sunnies and glasses
Men should stick to Rayban, Persol, Oliver Peoples, Tom Ford in classic styles and tortoise shell colour.
Women can go a bit flashier in the designers they choose (but Alexander McQueen are my favs).
This isn't really exclusive to banking though, more of a general life decision to not look like an asshole in eurotrash shades.
I like my Oakley's (don't worry, not the mirrored baseball ones). Only sunglasses I've found that let you look at a polarized screen (smartphone, tablet, etc.) Perfect for working on the beach during your vacation (happy August all!)
Patrick Bateman wears wayfarers... so there you go.
I wear Wayfarers...if you have mad SWAGGER you'll wear those though: http://homeshopping.pk/product_images/q/054/1__80135_zoom.jpg
If your pocket is right, you can wear what you like.

Glasses are unprofessional, no matter what the brand. If lasik/whatever is out of the question for you, just use eye drops when necessary.
The lack of sleep will make you not notice the pain associated with wearing your contacts for far too long.
What are you talking about?
Glasses are unprofessional my a$$. It's a necessity for some people, not fashion. Get a clue.
Oliver Peoples.
Oliver Peoples, duh
How are glasses unprofessional? That's probably one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this site and that's saying a lot
Dumber than asking what brand of glasses to where on a finance forum?
/argument
What brand does Bateman wear? Those ones.
http://www.oliverpeoples.com/en/oliver-peoples-vintage
O&X are good, lots of different styles, and not too expensive

I must wear glasses to see from the time I wake up to when I retire to bed in the PM. I like Buffalo Horn frames, check out them at Purdy's in NYC. I also love the Alain Mikli frames, some of the Cartier designs, IC-Berlin, Chrome Hearts, and LA Eyewear. Yeah, I have a thing for my glasses!
I had this problem at first as well, if you don't want to dry and destroy your eyes you need to wear glasses. Decide whether you want plastic or metal and whether you want to be up at $500 for the Oliver Peoples/ic Berlin/Cartier or are OK with $200 glasses (generally Luxotica branded stuff). I know a couple people with Warby Parker (quite cheap at $100), but you need a certain kind of face for that. At any decent optician you shouldn't pay extra for coatings, and the high end ones often though in Zeiss (like the camera lenses) anti-glare which I find works wonders (along with changing your monitor brightness and background colors).
Absurd. Glasses are far more professional than your bad grammar. People wear glasses. Where refers to location.
If you want some cheap glasses go with Warby Parker. They let you order 5 at a time and try them on at home first.
They also give away a pair for those that are less privileged with each purchase.
I would recommend Carrera, I mean they are simply the best, they offer you everything Raybans can offer and more. I own two Raybans and Three Carreras. Warby parker are cheap but not really my thing. What do you say guys?

I need a new pair, looking to shake things up when it comes to style. Also, I can't stand wearing contact lenses all day at work for 10+ hours straight.
I currently have something that's "normal", rectangle shape, black.
I'm thinking of getting something a little less square.
Any suggestions?
Check out Oliver Peoples, Moscot, or Warby Parker. I like Warby Parker because they sell titanium frames for less than some of the higher-end brands sell their acetate frames, but I guess they would be the new kids on the block while Moscot and Oliver Peoples are more traditional. Oliver Peoples of course has that classic tortoise shell look that Christian Bale rocked since they were prominently featured in American Psycho.
Also check out
Coastal.com, great service, free returns and shipping. They also have great deals from time to time
I have been wearing Oliver Peoples for years and they are great.
This year I also bought a pair of Warby Parkers and I highly recommend them. Given the low price point you can buy multiple frames, with lenses, for the same price as a single pair of Oliver Peoples.
If my Oliver Peoples cost like $700 with lenses, the WPs cost like $100. Make sure to take advantage of the free at home try-on (or go to one of their boutiques) because I didn't like many of their frames.
I kinda like the ones Patrick Bateman wears in American Psycho but I'm wondering if I'll look like a complete douche buying a pair like that. Need to get my eyes checked as well, and I doubt the place I go to have Oliver Peoples or Warby Parkers glasses but I'll show them a print out of the style of glasses I'm looking for.
The O'Malley's? I wore those for awhile, then lost them on a business trip because I'm an idiot. They can look a little hipster, depends on how big your face is mostly. If you spring for that sort of style, definitely do tortoiseshell, not black, to minimize the trustafarian look.
I'd also recommend Barton Perreira, the brand I now have...they have some really sharp styles.
My rotation: 2 pairs from Warby, a pair of Ray-bans and O'Malley's
You can check online for good quality glasses .

I was thinking of getting something along the lines of

http://www.lenscrafters.com/lc-us/ray-ban/805289151951
depends on your face and you tend to wear...
You should be fine with the second pair. Not sure about the first one though.
you're fine with both as long as they both look good on you. the only case i can imagine what type of glasses you wear as being a problem is if they're incredibly oversized grandpa glasses that aren't actually meant to look good and make you look like a super hipster.
seriously, no one gives a shit what type of glasses you wear. wear whatever makes you feel good and lets you see your computer.
Don't care for either (I'm a thin frame guy), but it depends on the person. I'd look at Lindberg glasses, if you can afford them.
Got a pair of lightweight, sleak, modern lenses (forget if the frame is graphite or what), but very durable (dropped them before, no breaks or issues). Had them for 3 years now (prescription finally stopped changing).
Cost $750-1000 (insurance picked up a good amount).

What do you guys think? http://www.fashioneyewear.com/tom-ford-tf5013.html
I like the vintage round-frames that Oliver Peoples has, but I feel that those aren't good everyday glasses / might look a bit douchey. Came up with the above frames since they are a bit more conservative.
Those look douchey. Oliver Peoples looks cute.
How are those douchey
Warby Parker. They're probably the only reasonable brand that's not a Luxxotica brand worth buying.
I'm gonna second this.
I think they look terrible. Get something else or maybe contacts/LASIK.
Really ugly shape. Also, the gold is tacky.
Lol..
Maybe just a bad picture, but here are a couple different ones to show what it looks like.
http://www.eyegoodies.com/Tom-Ford-FT-5013-pr-16582.html
http://www.tomford.com/wide-square-optical-frame/FT5013.html
(Not that color)^
Also, correct if I am wrong, but isn't the gold "T" included on every pair of Tom Ford eyeglasses?
...so that makes it okay?
idk i liked this one
http://www.tomford.com/wide-square-optical-frame/FT5013.html
i have a pair somewhat like those, although i normally opt for contacts. why not get contacts @OP?
As a former eyeglass wearer (Lasik), don't do the brass things on the side. You can buy the same shape generic at a lesser pice or another name without the Tom Ford brass thing.
Although I have to ask @"DickFuld" when the fuck did I have to start holding things further away from my face because my eyes are getting old? I was told I'd need reading glasses around 40 but shit...
The gold T looks horrible. Second the Warby Parker suggestion
OP frames are nice...not douchey at all
If you wear those frames, consider it mission accomplished. Look into WP, or Moscot NYC on the higher end
Warby Parker. Love tortoise though. I have darker ones and they are great. Glasses are so over priced.
Yeah I agree with you guys. Decided to go with a classic frame from Oliver Peoples instead.
Also, to the contacts suggestion - I have been wearing contacts for 7 years and my eyes have been damaged from doing so. I need glasses for the hours
Just get Warby Parkers. You'll seem hip and in-the-know, and people won't surmise that you're a sassy homosexual who obsesses over designer eyeglasses and asks strangers over the internet about which frames would look good on the face they've never seen.
If he was a sassy homosexual he'd have better taste than those Tom Fords

oliver peoples
stunna shades
I have a sweet RL Polo pair that does the trick.
But just know that any designer pair, like Prada, Gucci, Armani, or even Polo is just a licensed product from a frame manufacturer... i.e. the designer label doesn't actually design the frame, they just stamp their name on it.
Oliver peoples and fred are clearly two of the most expensive, but the frames should just fit your face over all else.
Most designer frames are designed and produced by Luxotica, which also does watches for a lot of the big houses.
Jesus Christ. I've hit my limit on people trying to figure out what is "Wall Steet". Wear glasses you like. If they aren't "wall street" whatever the f-- that means for glasses, then guess what? You are dressing like yourself then.
Alan Greenspan is considered an authority around these parts, why don't you get glasses like him.
Either you sling crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot
Oliver Peoples glasses and a Jean Paul Gaultier overnight bag.
They go great together.
...not to mention valentino suits

Also looking for the glasses where the temple is the height of the frames and gets skinnier the closer it gets to the ear. any advice/pics are appreciated.
thanks in advance.
I like Oliver Peoples. I have a pair of sunglasses from them and they are very nice - nice weight, feel, look, construction. I had Cartier's before for reference.
...Check out Cartier's frames...really nice stuff. I am thinking of getting glasses as staring at those little green numbers on the bond screens all day is drying out my contacts like crazy and I am leaning towards a Cartier pair.
aviators. nuff said
aviators are sunglasses... as for Cartier I haven't really seen anything that I truly like. And the entire point of glasses is because contacts aren't good for close range since I'm near sighted
