1 Month into first job out of college and have dream offer.

I am really struggling right now, I just started a leveraged lending role at a national bank with sponsor backed companies. I enjoy the role a great deal and am a convert from my internship, however due to bad times at the bank (this may clue you in as to where I work) my job security as a new grad has diminished.

Through something of a miracle (of both timing and networking) I have secured a research role in the fixed income space at a top asset manager. I feel this is the right path to go but I’m nauseated at the thought of telling my team I’m leaving only a month in. Can anyone offer some advice on this?

If this is truly your "dream job", then I would absolutely go for it. You are right that it is a bad look to drop out only a month in, especially if you are an intern convert. However, I think the upside of doing exactly what you want to do outweighs this. Worst case you burn bridges with everyone in your current group, but once you take this new job that wont really matter much. If the new firm is alright with you leaving this job after a month/would never find out, then go for it and don't look back. My one word of caution would be to make sure this is the role you want, because if you leave again after a year or so it would be bad on your resume to be moving around so much. It'll really suck,I reneged on an offer that I was an intern convert for, and you will feel like a POS when telling those you work with, but if you truly want this other job than it'll be worth it. It was for me.
