AM intern interview

I have an interview next week with a small local Asset Management firm. I received the interview by basically emailing every firm I could find regarding possible summer internships. Because it's a small firm with no formal internship program I am not sure what to expect for the interview and don't want to screw it up because I don't have many backup options. Any advice/help with the upcoming interview would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Asset Management can mean a lot of things. What exactly does this shop do....? Private Wealth Management, Institutional Investment Consulting, Equity Investment fund, etc

But in general, smaller firms are more concerned about culture than anything else. Make them like you! Be able to clearly articulate why you want to work there and what value you bring to the firm. And of course be prepared for the general "fit" interview questions (i.e. walk me through your resume, strengths/weaknesses, etc).

I would agree with tan86. From what I've learned on local firms, they're more concerned with you fitting in because of how small the shop actually is. Could you tell us more about what they exactly do?

Set up a Google Alert for the company's name so you can monitor any recent news about them. Read at least the last 4 newsletters/quarterly reports they've published. Asking intelligent questions about the firm will get you far. It's impossible to say what technical knowledge you need to know without knowing what the position is or what firm it is.

GetOnTop thank you for the advice. It is a general fall internship with no specific position. The firm targets small cap companies for growth investing.
