Asset Class: Real Estate or Equities?

Hi,

So I know that I want to work in an asset management firm and make a career out of investing. I really like Real Estate and Equity, but I am not sure which one to choose a career in. I was hoping we could talk about the different career opportunities in both, the pay, future outlook etc. Is it going to be hard if I start a career in one but try to move to a different asset class? I feel like I won't learn as much so I feel like I should start my career in equities but not sure if that means shutting the door on real estate? Any help would be appreciated
