Asset management graduate jobs

Hello, I will graduate from a very good university in 2013 with a degree in economics. I expect to get a 2.1. This year though, my penultimate year, I am not sure if I will get a 2.1 and I may end up with a 2.2. I will be doing an internship this summer for a very big firm in financial analytics, doing such things as modelling, benchmarking etc, very statistical based. I was just wondering will the fact that I may get a 2.2 this year have an impact when applying for graduate Asset Management jobs? I assume one apply's for the graduate positions before graduating.

Thanks in advance

When I was interviewing with an AM firm, they told me that realistically to make it in the The City now, you need a first, could get by with a 2.1

but 2.2 will just not cut it in The City anymore :/

I am very confident I will graduate with a 2.1, but I'm just not sure I will get one this year, which is my penultimate year

oh, well as long as you actually graduate with a 2.1 (ie averaged over the 2 years. i think its 40% for second year, 60% for last year) you will be fine

Yeah I should leave my university with a 2.1, but I'm just nervous about the fact that I think applying for graduate jobs starts near the beginning of my final year, so I wont have got my 2.1 degree by then. I will just have my internship, which is for a massive company in fairness, along with my word that I expect to get a 2.1 in my finals.

Just put on all the applications and your CV that you are expected to graduate with a 2.1 and you will be fine pal!
