I am a rising junior at a top 50 undergrad Business school. I have secured a BB internship for this summer through a close family member. I currently have a 3.3 CUM GPA and a 3.6 Major GPA. I am a business major concentrating in both finance and accounting.
I am wondering how I am doing in terms of breaking into The Street. I plan on graduating with a 3.5+ CUM GPA and pursing my CPA to better understand the back-end of the industry. If I intern at the same firm next summer and position myself correctly, what are my chances of getting an offer before I graduate (standard 4 years).
BB internship as a rising junior is impressive and it certainly puts you on track. You're probably already aware that your GPA is a tad on the low side, and If you're doing AM, which it seems like you are, why are you going for a CPA rather than CFA? CFA would almost certainly be more relevant and open more doors for you than a CPA.
Thanks for the reply man. I am planning on pursuing my CFA as part of my senior culmination project as my Finance concentration offers a program to fulfill the requirement and ensure the opportunity to maximize the return on investment (in terms of time). How hard would it be to pass both? I have heard varied opinions about the CPA process vs. the CFA process and the CFA process seems more intense. I'd like to be able to get both but I am definitely prioritizing the CFA (probably should have stated that in the pervious post). Any and all opinions/advice are appreciated!

Your GPA is on the lower side but so was mine. It won't put too many obstacles in the way if you have connections and the BB experience on the resume. I understand wanting to know more, but not the CPA. If you're wanting to get into investing than I would not worry about the CPA. That might be okay for corp fin but AM recruiters will only want to see and hear about the CFA/MBA. No one can really put a number on your chances but milk the shit out of your BB AM gig and always hedge with additional apps to other firms. Best of luck.

I have done an extensive amount of research on the benefits of the CPA for someone going into finance and I have decided to dedicate my time strictly towards the CFA. In terms of GPA/networking, I am on track to have potential Fall/Winter internship offers with 2-3 different firms in the area of my school (I will pursue one). Do you think it is wise to focus more on experience than grades? I am planning on gaining valuable experience over the course of my Junior year by working off-cycle internships hopefully all year and using them as leverage to propel into the summer before my senior year. I am also planning on doing budget work pro bono for a respected nonprofit in my school area.
