Blackrock Portfolio Managment Summer Internship London

Hi,

I have an incoming interview with Blackrock for the PM summer internship. For the FI team. Does anyone know what to expect in terms of technicals? Also any advice for the behavioural part? What should I try to highlight from my past experiences?

I couldn't find too much info for AM interviews as there's for IB or S&T roles.

Thanks so much.

Ah, the thrill of an upcoming interview! Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you might expect:

For the technical part, it's crucial to understand the basics of portfolio management and fixed income. You should be comfortable with concepts like bond pricing, yield curves, duration, and convexity. Also, be prepared to discuss current market trends and how they might impact fixed income investments.

As for the behavioural part, it's all about showcasing your skills and experiences that make you a good fit for the role. Remember to use the STAR technique (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your responses. This method helps you to clearly articulate how you've used a particular skill or handled a specific situation in the past.

In terms of what to highlight from your past experiences, focus on instances where you've demonstrated analytical skills, decision-making, and a keen interest in financial markets. If you've had any experience with portfolio management or fixed income, definitely bring that up.

Remember, interviews are not just about them assessing you, but also about you assessing them. So, come prepared with thoughtful questions about the role, the team, and Blackrock's approach to portfolio management.

Good luck, and remember, confidence is key! You've got this.
