Can RFP Writers at Asset Manager/Banks Make a Lot of Money?
I see job titles such as "RFP Writer, Fixed Income Product Management" at a global investment bank, which makes me wonder what an RFP Writer career path entails.
1. Is this a role that does not involve as much career progression? It seems to be a kind of job that you don't want to hold on for too long.
2. How is the compensation for these roles at bulge bracket banks?

glass door salaries (just search RFP) look to be about what I would expect for an experienced RFP writer. You could definitely expect things to be on the low end of that for entry level.
In terms of the day-to-day work, i think the job descriptions on glassdoor are pretty accurate. the company has to respond to questions about how they wish to manage the clients money before the client will agree to hire them. As you can imagine, many of the questions recur frequently no matter what prospective client is asking the question. So the job is to search a database of previous answers to questions and match those answers to the current set of questions (the RFP). For whatever reason, there is very little standardization across RFPs, so people are generally asking managers the same questions but in a slightly different way. So matching Answer to Question requires a human instead of a computer program. If they answer is not in the database for some reason (maybe a couple percent of the questions?) then you forward the question on to the appropriate group for them to respond with a new answer. Maybe some people wouldn't find this boring.......
