Culture vs Life

How would you value amazing company culture with great comp but not being happy in your city (non nyc/sf/chi). I feel like i’m missing out on all the experiences of living in a young, vibrant city but I genuinely love the people I work with and the work itself. I’m continually surprised to see the number of analysts who had left my firm to go to nyc-esq cities and work at competitors/sell side only to come back in 1-2 years. At the same time 90% of my friends left for nyc and are seemingly living the life (even in a tiny 600 sqft apartment). Seems like the firm lets people leave and return as long bridges weren’t burned but it’s still a touchy subject. Currently in a portfolio management/trading role at a large AM.
