In terms of raw size Amundi is up there but no idea about culture/comp; I suspect bad given it's French. 

I've heard good things about Pictet and Vontobel but not quite at the same scale. 

As someone who works in a very European AM, anecdotally I can tell you that the environment here seems way less dynamic (i.e. more political, bureaucratic, old fashioned) than for my American counterparts. Comp also seems significantly lower across the board but that's to be expected.

Same in HF world,  American firms just way ahead.
