Exits out of research associate programs
I will be starting next year as a research associate at a well known asset manager (Wellington/Capital/D&C/Fidelity/T.Rowe/MFS/Artisan/Harris/etc). Promotion to analyst is unlikely/impossible, so I will be looking for my next job after a few years.
I'm curious what the process of moving to the next job looks like. I am mainly interested in other long only roles, or longer time horizon SM HFs. Will recruiters reach out to me about these roles, or should I be applying / networking proactively? Will my title be associate or analyst? How far ahead of my end date should I be interviewing?
You should be networking proactively all the time anyways. For sure your next job on the buy-side should not come from having to apply through a job portal or even through a recruiter, instead should be through a referral.
Bump
Why do you think that? What are the profiles of the analysts? A2A or external experienced hires
Some shops just do it that way
