Fidelity Internships - Equity Research and Sector Specialist
Does anyone know about Fidelity's sector specialist internship program and how it differs from the general equity research associate program? Also, does anyone know how much interns can expect to make
Did you ever manage to find out?
ER interns cover specific names whereas sector specialists cover 1-2 industries. Generally the sector specialists are there to support the fundamental guys but they also write some of their own notes as well.
@"sixteh" Thanks! Currently at Fidelity? How do you reckon this difference might affect the market/ technical type interview questions for Sector Specialist? Less fundamental val methodology q's and more market trend q's for instance? Any insight appreciated....
Sector specialists sit between sales and trading and equity research. They're the guys talking about latest news with the largest clients (which includes pitching the latest equity research reports in their sector). Buy side guys may bounce ideas off of them and the sector specialist will see what his other clients think, getting multiple views from the largest shareholders anonymously. They go out drinking pretty much every night with clients.
This is my experience at a BB, though I'd imagine Fidelity wouldn't be too different.
@"Political Technology" Thanks for the insight.... Been contacted about this position so curious about what the role entails and the type of valuation/ market knowledge they will be looking for. If there is a 'drinking skills test', guaranteed 100 percentile.
