Finance needed for BB AM role
After working through a similar strategy to break into AM from a non-target liberal arts school, I've landed a gig at a BB AM alternatives desk for the summer, and I'm hoping to make a career of it. As such, I have been doing my best to supplement my econ BA with my own reading/studying in finance, but I'm not sure what finance is needed.
Recently, I did a Training the Street course on valuation, which was perfect for IB kids, but also useful for me as I learned about basic valuation and built out a DCF.
My question is this, how much more should I be doing to get ready? I've been working through Damodaran's classes, which are an amazing, free resource, but I feel like I should be better at valuation stuff as I learned it is not just for M&A/IB work.
Also, I've gotten a lot out of reading When Genius Failed (LTCM post-mortem), Liar's Poker, The House of Morgan, and The Intelligent Investor. Definitely would recommend all/some combination of to anyone else interested in finance/AM. Thanks!
