Finance & Strategy within IM / Big 4
Does anyone have first hand experience what a strategy analyst would within an investment management firm? I know it's more along the lines of reporting and benchmarking, with analysis of potential strategic initiatives, but I was hoping to get more information and see if anyone has personal or second hand insight into day-to-day/hours/comp?
Update: A friend of mine from my time in Big 4 reached out to me with an internal opportunity in a similar role that I inquired about above, but how would it differ from BB IM (above) to a Big 4 firm? Is it the same or would it be more FP&A? Every thread I searched for here was focused more on Corp Fin Advisory for Big 4 so not much was found.
Appreciate the help.
I interviewed for a strategy role at one of the big AMs. I got the impression that the day-to-day worked a lot like an internal consulting type of job; heavily project-oriented, but generally operating in a team environment. Hours were probably in the 60-70 range. I can't speak to comp, though I know the person who took the role for the summer internship and apparently that comp was very good.
You could be referring to multiple things between strategy on a private banking team or a home office strategy role or client portfolio manager etc.. Elaborate ?
