FP&A to Investment Analyst: Is it a viable path?

Hi All,

I'm a recent undergrad that has recently come across an opportunity to work as an FP&A analyst. However, my medium  term goal is to become an investment/portfolio analyst and ultimately become a portfolio manager.

Would this FP&A experience be helpful in achieving this goal?

Or, should I continue applying for investment analyst roles (intern/graduate/junior roles). Meanwhile I will be unemployed and acrruing no experience.
