How to make Connections

Met a guy who's dad works at BlackRock and is a manager there. I was wondering how I can get connected with him because BlackRock is somewhere I would definitely like to work in the future. Does knowing someone with seniority in a company give advantages when it comes to recruitment?

I got my first job through a pledge in my fraternity asking his dad (who owned a company) if he would be willing to chat with me. He took me to lunch at a Ritz Carlton and we chatted for hours over many drinks. A week later he connected me with his CFO who gave me an internship which led to a full time offer. Definitely take advantage of your friends parents
