How to reenter AM?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on how to best position myself to reenter asset management. I have a semi target background and worked in research for just over a year but left due to culture fit issues. To avoid a gap on my CV, I took the first opportunity I could find in another industry and I can admit it wasn’t the best decision.
Since then, I’ve had multiple final rounds with top AMs and BB AMs for roles in macro research, LO equity, and FI PM, but I haven’t landed an offer yet. Hiring seems to be picking up again, and I’m starting to get callbacks, but I’m unsure how to best present myself to hiring managers and recruiters.
Would it be better to exclude my current role from my CV, or should I acknowledge that I’m currently in a non related industry? Any insight would be appreciated.
Bump, left banking to an M&A role but not advisory and looking to break into AM. Not sure if to exclude current job
