IB vs AM/IM comp
I'm a rising sophomore at a non-target and I'm overall more interested in AM/IM, but I haven't completely ruled out IB. Compensation is obviously a large part in deciding which industry to try and break into and if the average analyst in IB is significantly higher than at an AM firm then that would definitely sway my decision. Any insight on the average analyst comp between the two industries? Thanks
Difference is night and day at the junior level, can be 50%+ higher in IB. Later in your career, it does get comparable, but average case will be a premium in IB to AM, but better wlb in AM so it’s really not bad. If your goal is money, go for IB.
