I'm looking for Career Advice

am looking for some career advice so I'll start by giving a brief outline of my experience in chronological order, my interests and then I'll cover off career paths that I'm considering. Opinions on my current thoughts and other possible career paths are welcome. FYI I'm mostly looking for advice from people with reasonable industry experience.

EXPERIENCE - Masters in mathematical modelling from a good university (heavy use of MATLAB) - Two years as a software engineer (Java, SQL and Linux) - 2.5 years doing modelling and analytical work for a niche FoF - 2.5 years working front office for a PE FoF (primaries, secondaries and some co-invest) - CFA qualification

INTERESTS - Earning enough for a comfortable lifestyle - Looking for an interesting job where I can continue to learn about the world (economics, investing, people, social science etc.) - Preference towards investing/front

CONSIDERED CAREER PATHS - PE FoF - Continue in PE FoF front office and possibly do more co-invest. Maybe move into an endowment or family office with the possibility of become CIO. Interesting work but limited scope to move into other lines of work and the PE FoF industry is consolidating - Fixed Income Credit Research - I love modelling out investments and potential returns and understanding industry dynamics. I could potentially get a role at a rating agencies on the corporate research side as a stepping stone back to the buy-side - Rating Agencies - Structured Credit given my modelling skills this could be possible. Either stay put or eventually go work for a hedge fund - Hedge fund - go work directly for a hedge fund. This might be a stretch and not sure how I would make the jump at the moment - Equity research on the buyside - this might be harder move for me.

Thank you in advance for any advice!
