Institutional Sales & Client Relations - interview info wanted

Hi guys I am an M.Sc. graduate in international banking and finance. I have an interview next week with a large Asset Management company in the UK. Role is Sales and Client Relations. I would greatly appreciate an insight into a role of this kind as well as any info or tips in regards to the interview or possible interview questions. The interview is with the investment director of institutional sales and investment director of regional investments.
Thanks again and all the best.

I just had a similar interview, but on the sell-side for a BB. Since I come from an econ background I got a ton of macro questions, like @"shorttheworld" stated. Some key questions:

  • What is a [insert product here]? Explain in detail. [Hypothetical scenario pertaining to product, usually pretty easy calc to test intuitive knowledge]
  • Pitch me a [industry coverage] stock.
  • What is going on in the markets currently? How do you think these things will affect [product]?

I would say to know your product inside and out at a basic level, expect detailed questions and follow-ups so make sure you know what you're talking about. My product was in FICC so I was grilled on macro knowledge. I would say if you focus on macro factors/drivers, specific product knowledge, and a long/short stock pitch you should be fine.

Thank you kruzon, really appreciate you guyus taking the time to help me. Wish I saw this earlier but this is only a 30 minute competency interview. Could I possbly get in to contact with you guys again for the final interview if I reach that. Then this will be more of an issue.
