Internships available for New Zealand Students?

Hi All

Im new to this website and was wondering what the chances for a student from outside USA were in getting an internship. Obviously our college system is different than yours and i will be completing my degree at the end of next year majoring in Finance and International business. My grades have been good( all A,s + 1 B) Can anyone fill me in on what the process for an international student would be and any advice on how i could make this possible? I have also had 5 years work experience but not in the finance industry

Thanks !

While I read this post I heard Jemaine's voice from Flight of the Conchords the entire time.

I'm not sure about actual internships. But if you're willing to go back to grad school, you can probably get into a decent American MBA program with your grades and work experience. Something to think about.

Update: I'm a moderator now, so I went back and added a relevant image, lol.

Original poster, sorry for the Kiwi stereotype, but at least it bumps your thread up for other readers to see.

I'm not from NZ, but I can only speak from experience. Having read through a few threads on these forums along with answers from HR it seems that American firms are quite reluctant to bring in students from abroad (who are not already studying in the US) to work for them. Having said that, if you are a Banking God, then maybe you could give it a go! :)

Thanks sanfranciscan, do you want me to sing you a song? Its seems to be so hard to find information about internships in NZ. Once we finish college we go straight into full time employment. Internships must be an american thing! Can anyone let me know where to find out any more info on them. I suppose the best i can do is apply and hope for the best!! :)
