JPM Private Bank Compensation Progression
Hi,
Does anyone have information about how much the total compensation throughout each of the analyst years at JPM Private Bank is (ideally in London)? Is there a bonus and how big is it? I read that the analyst program lasts three years in the private bank. What is the salary progression throughout those years? I know that first year base salary is £60k + £5k relocation bonus in London. I'd be really curious to know if there is an end of year bonus on top of that and how these numbers progress throughout the other analyst years.
Hi Deimos, check out these resources:

Hope that helps.
.
What about associate and vp? What are the hours like?
associate 1 is currently $150k (subject to change as IB bumped to $175k). someone said VPs made $200k salary but i can't confirm. their bonuses heavily depend on flows in and out of the bank.
didnt they raise A1 to 105?
possibly to 110... haven't had confirmation yet
.
To answer your bonus question, in hte US the first year stubs were anywhere from 8k-10k for people who started on cycle in July. Given that is prorated, the range is around 21k-27k for a full year or anywhere from 23-30%. So per your salary, a bonus of 12k-16k pounds would be in line per the old salary. New salary bumps may increase this.
Interested in this. Following
Bump
if PB is only bumped to 105, then we are behind street pay right? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
we also work ~65hr weeks on average
thats actually q long too....we shouldnt compare it like that coz the analyst pays used to be standardized across the departments before. so why are they now making that discrepancy
is anyone here a 2nd or 3rd year analyst in the PB and can give us your bonus number/range?? if first years were $8-10k then do we assume no 2nd or 3rd year got above say $30k?
yes anticipate over a 30k bonus as a 2nd year+
What’s bonus like for associates?
is there a range possibly?? not sure if they do a top/mid/bottom bucket ranking or not
Does anyone know what the solutions team does at the private bank? it is separate from the general advisors. is it harder to get into? what kind of people go there?
I believe that the investor role is going away within the PB (not 100% tho)
why do you say its going away? its a critical role and even more technical than general avisor ..
not a critical role... was told by management they are going away with the "investor role". New advisors are essentially both roles now. Having said that, there still are investors, but most are older
This is not true. Investors are not going away. For partner coverage, the investor is a crucial part of the model.
JPM is primarily pushing the SC model now, so the investor role is going to get smaller and smaller (been told this by multiple market managers). Far majority of associates are groomed to be advisors
Yes most all new hires will be SC but that does not mean the investor role is going away. Also, a new PC associate started with me in my market area. They are still hiring PC, but the growth is definitely in SC. I do agree it will be more difficult to come in as an associate investor on the PC side
yup, completely agree. I saw ur posts on another thread saying you work at JPM PB. Do you know how much ED base salary is
thanks for your comment! yes i would thinkt he investor role was quite critical and even amongst the PB side, requires more "brainpower" and analytical skills. could i know whats SC and PC ?
PC = Partner Coverage, formerly "Ultra High Net Worth" ($25MM+). In this model, there is a banker and an investor on each client relationship. THe banker is primarily responsible for managing the relationship, prospecting for new relationships, etc. The Investor will be responsible for investment strategy, placing trades in client accounts, etc.
SC = Single Coverage, formerly "High Net Worth" ($5MM-$25MM). In this role, you are both the banker and the investor. They used to call us Client Advisors but now we are just bankers.
Haven't quite figured out what an ED base salary is
I believe ED base is USD 300k.
any idea on where the investment solutions teams fit into the PB? not much talk about them, thanks
Answered this for someone else via PM. The solutions group is based out of New York and is primarily responsible for taking our investment strategy (Macro views, capital markets assumptions, etc.) and recommending solutions to implement in client portfolios. We had a team meeting with the solutions group and our market via zoom earlier this week where we, for example, asked about how to best play the coming fed rate hike. The solutions team pointed to a number of strategies on our platform to potentially incorporate into client portfolios, depending on the client's specific situations. The solutions team will also join client calls to talk about a specific strategy. I'm a banker, not on the solutions side, but we work with them regularly. They are a crucial part of our model. If you enjoy staying on top of what's going on in markets and understanding how that impacts different pieces of an overall portfolio, the solutions team is a good place to land. There are people in the solutions team that focus on equities, fixed income, and alternatives.
Current analyst, new hires are going to be largely single coverage because that is a very large emerging area within the US wealth space with so many new millionaires especially with tech. That being said, partner coverage will never go away because of the fact that a single coverage advisor cannot handle the balance sheet of a 500mm+ family or a 400mm endowment/foundation etc.
from what I know, solutions team research and develop investment strategies for clients, they also build investment portfolios.
I can't give you a definite answer because there are so many different programs at the firm. Usually, Analyst programs at the firm are around 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised though if it is three years. Check on Glassdoor and filter by location. I find the information on there to be quite accurate (at least pertaining to JP Morgan)
