PIMCO Comp Progression

Hi all,

Fortunate enough to have an offer for a role in PIMCO in Account Management. I understand PIMCO is a top shop in terms of experience and brand name, but I want to understand how comp scales in PIMCO ? Particularly interested in understanding comp progression from Account Manager to EVP. Any data points on other teams welcome as well.

Thanks

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know about compensation progression at PIMCO:

  1. General Compensation Insights:

    • PIMCO is known for paying very well across all roles, particularly in their primary revenue-generating teams. However, compensation can vary significantly depending on the role and performance.
  2. Account Management Progression:

    • For Account Managers, the compensation progression is competitive, with senior roles like VP or EVP reaching substantial levels. For example, senior analysts or VP-level roles can see total compensation in the range of $700k all-in, with potential for higher earnings based on exceptional performance.
    • It typically takes time to reach these levels, often requiring professionals to be in their early to mid-30s before achieving VP or higher roles.
  3. Other Teams:

    • While specific data on other teams isn't detailed, the general consensus is that PIMCO maintains a strong compensation structure across its revenue-driving roles. Back-office roles may not be as competitive compared to the tech industry.

If you're starting in Account Management, you can expect a strong trajectory, but reaching EVP will require consistent performance and time.
