Pivoting WM to IM Analyst Role Internally

Hello, I am currently at a well-sized WM group in a large firm. I have always pushed myself in the terms of learning within the financial industry. I passed my CFA Level 1 in my undergraduate, and just started a post-grad role in a smaller town. I am looking to try to internally pivot to an analyst role in a bigger city. I am looking for tips/advice as I know what work needs to be done, and the things I must do. I just don't know how to navigate communicating with my current lead Advisor and potential coffee chats about my position without, for a lack of a better term, burning bridges. I love the people of my group but I know I can do more in this industry and am dying to. My advisor just would love to have succession plans for me, but I know I won't be happy continuing this role for the next few years. Let me know what you think, thanks.
