Polen Capital Culture/Comp
Was hoping someone could offer some insight into the culture and comp structure at Polen Capital. What does career progression/comp look like for someone coming in as an experienced analyst?
Also curious how big drawdowns like we have seen recently in growth names have been managed by the firm. Any help is appreciated.
Can't help you w/ comp + progression, but in terms of culture they're one of the hallmark examples that Focus Consulting uses when describing top-tier investment firm culture (they wrote this book: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0096CEZV8/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi…).
Thanks for the reccomendation. I'll check it out.
Thanks for sharing. If you have read the book, is it worth a read? Seems interesting.
I think organizational design / process is a huge edge in investment management that's intangible to measure.
Yes I would recommend it, with the caveat that I read their whitepaper (condensed version) but (1) that's no longer on their website and a quick Google search doesn't result in a floater version online, and (2) a colleague who read the full book thought it was worthwhile.
Bump
I did a couple interviews but honestly don't have great color
People seemed nice, good first impression re culture. Boca which is either awesome or awful depending on what phase of life you're at
Performance had been strong, definitely a growthy tilt. But personally didn't find their strategy particularly differentiated
No color re comp. Would expect lower than the mega shops, partially offset but lower CoL
I was told they are GARPy but worry they are more "growth at any price". Any idea how much weight they seem to place on valuation?
Did you get a sense of what comp was relative to market?
Their holdings suggest GARP
Bump.
Anyone have any color on comp/career progression? Is this one of the "promised land" seats in LO AM that one would be crazy to turn down?
Why don't you ask them about comp and progression in the interview and then report back to us? Comp ranges in the industry vary widely. How many YoE you have , what sector do you cover and what title/responsibility level would you be coming in at?
I have a friend that moved there and loves the culture and raves about it compared to the bigger shop he came from. He's a ER analyst(I'm not going to specify his coverage due to the size of the shop).
Amazing how these clowns convinced people they were the real deal. Save yourself the 1% (lol - not for long), toss it in VUG, and hit the beach
Any updates here on 1) how the firm is doing 2) public credit strategy (performing vs stressed/opportunistic), 3) comp/culture?
