Portfolio Solutions Groups

Hi All

Looks like these divisions are now becoming increasingly popular in AM...

My understanding so far:

  • Apparently these teams can take various names / forms and mostly work on the portfolio construction / implementation side.

  • This means they do not express market views but only implement. They might be entirely responsible for an ‘overlay’ though.

  • They are often linked to Multi Asset / passive / LDI / beta-quant etc. teams.

  • Only big AM firms tend to have these departments in order to help their biggest institutional clients with the asset allocation.

  • They are ‘investment’ not ‘product’.

Thoughts? To me they look quite appealing...
