Recently started a summer internship in Portfolio Management - need advice to do well

I recently started a summer internship in portfolio management. It's a new and a small team. I'm expecting a steep learning curve and I am looking for advice as to how to maximize this opportunity for my personal growth in this industry and also to actually perform better and hopefully get a return offer at the end of the summer?

How do I make my internship a success? Any tips on what Portfolio managers look at when giving a return offer? How should I gain the maximum out of this?

Any other advice as well is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!
