Should I Renege My BB SA For Another Division

Hello all

First post here.

I am after some advice. Having accepted an SA position '22 for S&T at a BB, I have since decided that S&T is not for me - instead I would prefer to do asset management.

Is it worth reneging my existing BB offer (wrong division for me) and then finding an SA role at an AM? Or, is it not worth it - should I just sit through the S&T internship apply for FT roles elsewhere in AM?

Thanks all, have always found this site useful so appreciate any help.

I’d have to agree with the comment above, absolutely do not reneg until you have an offer. One thing I would ask however is what sector of AM are you looking to break into? If it is anything like a fundamental investment role (l/s equities, private credit, liquid credit, etc.) I’d imagine the potential summer gigs available would be drastically less, and they would benefit from a IBD skillset rather than S&T if you were to recruit full time. Have a ton of S&T friends that are on the trading side of AM though

Thanks a lot. Would definitely not renege unless had something else in hand.

Looking for LO or LoSh. Agree with the lack of S&T transferability to that.

Main concern is attractiveness to many of my offer (GS S&T) vs if I went to somewhere like Janus or Invesco.
