Hello,
Long story short, I start a 6month temporary contract in AM at a BB on the 4/01/16 but my graduation ceremony from my MSc is on the 27/01 which is a Wednesday (yes I know, sucks...).
I really want to go to the ceremony but when should I say it, on the 1st day, one week after, or just give up ? What are you advice ?

I would bring it up with your direct manager ASAP. It's not ideal to take off a day so soon, but given the nature of the event they'll probably be ok with it if you ask in advance.
