Stuck trying to decide which route to pursue: Finance or Real Estate

So I'm a sophomore at a non-target (still good school though), so I know both fields will be equally hard to break into, however from what I've gleaned the process of getting into the CRE industry, specifically development is a lot less formal than say something like IB

I'm majoring in both, Finance & Real Estate, but I've been looking to intern this summer at a Financial Services company rather than something solely related to real estate, such as a PM firm which is where I'd most likely end up for this summer if I do chose RE, as I feel the skills would transfer better from a financial services role and it would open more doors to a Junior summer internship at either a proper Real Estate Firm or Finance depending on the route I choose. Also, I don't want to pigeon hole myself into the RE industry with the impending market collapse timed perfectly for when I graduate.

I've been looking at a lot of Asset Management boutiques for this summer as it would be the best of both worlds. Thoughts?
