Summer investment management as a contractor?

I recently started a job at a large insurance company doing fixed income in their investment division. The problem is I realized I was a contract hire and I am actually employed by a 3rd party talent sourcing agency, which has “temporarily assigned” me to my current company. The contract is for the 3 months until school starts and I am working full-time for the insurance company.

I just want to ask if anyone has had a similar experience and can I just write on my resume that it’s an internship at this company?

Thx!

Have had this happen (FT job, not internship though).

For your resume, yes. You can say you had an internship at the company you're working with.

For a background check (once you get a FT offer down the line), you need to disclose that you were with a staffing agency, otherwise it'll come back as a red flag.

Currently: future neurologist, current psychotherapist Previously: investor relations (top consulting firm), M&A consulting (Big 4), M&A banking (MM)

Do you have to mention that you were a contractor (for a FT role) during the interview process? Or is it okay to wait until you get the offer then disclose it?

The latter. Honestly, people know that resumes are embellished and half of your titles aren't accurate. And you're not lying - you did work full-time at Awesome Company. The disclosure that you were with a staffing agency is really only for matters of legality.
