What is it like working in asset management? How are the hours? What is the type of job you do? What is a typical day in asset management like? What do you like or dislike about it?

Equities Analyst in London. Hours are usually 7:30am-6/7pm Mon-Fri. Day starts with portfolio management and news and update the team on anything. Tasks vary day to day but can include building & updating models, searching for and writing research on new investments, meeting management teams, presenting to sales/clients.

I used to be a fixed income analyst. It was very chill. People would be in around 8am or 9am and leave around 5-5:30. Typical day would include monitoring portfolio holdings for any market or credit related movements, finding new trade ideas and doing due diligence on new companies, writing surveillance or new credit reports, and answering portfolio managers’ questions. Hope that helps!
Product Development, big AM, typical 9-5 job, work OT a bit occasionally.
Can leave earlier if not too busy.
Work with PMs, operations and almost all important people and team cross organization.
Great position for new grad.
Pay is a bit lower than PM team but relatively higher than average.
Base+bonus+pension.
