Where can I learn strategies of mutual fund? or can I?
Hi guys, I'm new to asset managements, I currently work as a financial advisor in Canada and really want to get into the industry, the only thing I have exposure on is mutual fund right now, because I sell them to clients, I was searching online for some details about the mutual funds I sell everyday, all I can find is a few sentences in annual financial statements or MRFP, where can I find more information? are these mutual fund companies required to disclose their strategies? Both Canada and US please!
Sorry, you sell mutual funds but don’t know what the strategies are or how to find them? What in the OSC is going on here 😂
We know the general information like US value funds invest in US equities with value tilt and seeking for long term capital growth, but we have no access to details like security selection process, currency hedging strategy, the information I can find in fund facts and financial reports are so general, doesn't help at all to understand better about their strength and weakness, have any suggestions?
ask the PMs?
how did you even land a full-time job??
Sorry, I work in a retail bank, not specialized in selling mutual fund, if my ignorance offended you please share a few tips to help me, it's also fine if you don't want to, thank you.
mutual funds are not hedge funds....they have a prospectus and must publish their holdings periodically...checkout morningstar
oh man....
Some investment managers post their process on their websites, so start there. Also, if you're at a large firm, someone there probably speaks with the portfolio managers or product managers at the fund on a regular basis.
ETF (Exchange Traded Funds). An ETF is defined as a fund that tracks a Stock Market index and is traded like ordinary stocks. It is a basket of stocks representing an index like Nifty or Sensex (also known as index shares). They are listed on an exchange and are traded throughout the day like any other stock. Index Fund. Every stock market has an index that identifies the movements of a part or the entire Stock Market. An Index Fund is an investment vehicle that tracks the performance of a benchmark market index. Key Differences Between ETFs and Index Funds. ETF is nothing but a type of Index Fund whereas an Index Fund is a type of Mutual Fund. The pricing of ETFs is based on the demand and supply of securities in the market. In contrast, an Index Fund is priced according to the net asset value (NAV) of the underlying asset. The flexibility and liquidity in ETFs is higher as compared to Index Funds. ETFs have high trading fees. Unlike an Index Fund, where there are no trading fees.
