Who has their CIM accreditation?

considering getting my CIM although I was hoping to get some more info on the background of those who actually have it. What is your current role, has it benefitted your career, and who would you recommend taking this? Thanks

It is absurdly easy to get, and in my opinion something that the small Canadian boutiques use to get their employees who are unwilling or unable to do the CFA registered as a PM.

I would not pay your own money for it, get it if a firm will take on the bill and has specifically asked for it.

Personally, I have found that lots of fund salespeople have it for some form of finance clout, but I would suggest just doing the CFA instead. The CIM is also unknown outside of Canada, and even within Canada it’s reputation is nebulous.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
