Working in Corporate America (Banking) as first gen American

Hi there,

I am Italian with a freshly obtained greencard and on my way for naturalization

My dream is to work here in AM/WM as Portfolio Manager or RM. Since I did previous experience in European companies (in Luxembourg) I wanted to integrate in the American market by doing a “top” MBA program (one with a good placement after graduation)

I wanted to ask however how the American job market is and whether it is easy/possible for foreigners to work in such positions as first gen expats. My main concern is that I am in my 30s while I know that many Americans who were borned here are way younger

Do American recruiters strongly privilege “Cheeseburger Americans”, meaning those who were borned and raised in the US over the newcomers? How are the odds? I know and could experience that in Europe there is a strong discrimination against people Who move to other EU countries, and wondered Wetter in the US it was better or more or less the same or even worse

Thank you in advance if someone has more detailed information and life stories

Best, Arsenio
